Hanpanjip is super hot right now, and it's famous for a wait at every branch. I went to Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok (한판집 창원봉곡점) in Bonggok-dong, Changwon. It was past 9 p.m. on a weekday and the place was still packed, so no wonder it's a famous Bonggok-dong favorite!

The restaurant is at the start of Bonggok-dong, so it's easy to find. A wait is basically a given, but same-day reservations are possible, so book ahead if you hate waiting.

It's so popular these days that a wait is a must, but same-day reservations are available too. I really recommend booking in advance!

Inside Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok: good for group dinners?

The interior is bigger than I expected, so it looks good for group gatherings. On the day I visited, I saw a big group with several tables pushed together for a company dinner.

It's clean, fresh and open-feeling, and there was no greasy smell at all, which I loved.

The round tables are comfy for sitting around and facing each other! Since it's a BBQ place, you can keep your belongings under the chair, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about smells.

The meat prep area is behind full glass windows so you can watch from outside, which somehow made me trust the place even more, haha.

Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok menu and prices: what did it cost?

I ordered 1 portion of pork belly, 2 portions of pork neck, bibim noodles, doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), cheese kimchi fried rice, a Tams Zero and a bowl of rice, and the total came to ₩51,500. There were plenty of side dishes too, and everything was cheap overall, so it never felt like a burden!

Same-day booking, side dishes and free steamed egg

I booked the same day, and the table was set up right on time, so it was comfortable. I recommend reserving!

The variety of basic side dishes was great for mixing and matching.

Steamed egg (gyeran-jjim) comes free, and you know that super tasty BBQ-restaurant style, right?! Warm and fluffy, the kind you just inhale..! It was so good. If you run out, you can get more for an extra ₩2,000.

Does Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok grill the meat for you?

Yes! There's a separate grilling station, and the staff grill the meat and bring it to you. The meat arrives already cooked, which makes eating even easier. I totally get why it's so wildly popular right now.

Bean sprouts, aged kimchi (mukeunji), green onion and shishito-style peppers (kkwari-gochu) get grilled alongside, which is great. The meat was cooked just right and ready to eat right away. The thickness is perfect too. Don't you think they grill it really well?

Pork neck beat pork belly at Hanpanjip

Personally, I found Hanpanjip's pork neck tender and delicious. I heard the pork skin is good too, so next time I'll order the mixed platter that includes it! Wrapping the meat in a lettuce wrap with bean sprouts and aged kimchi was so good..!

Doenjang stew, Korean BBQ restaurant style

Hanpanjip's doenjang stew has big chunks of tofu and a little bit of meat in it, which was so nice to have together! The flavor is classic BBQ-restaurant-style doenjang stew, easy and comfortable for anyone to eat.

Best sides at Hanpanjip: bibim noodles and cheese kimchi fried rice

For a side dish at Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok, I absolutely have to recommend the bibim noodles (spicy mixed noodles)!! I hadn't had them in a while and wow! So good😍 I wolfed them down in no time. I honestly considered ordering another one.

The Hanpan fried rice (한판볶음밥) is pretty much Hanpanjip's signature, so of course I didn't forget to order it. The kimchi fried rice is the oily, soaked-in-flavor style, and they pour cheese on top without holding back at all, so it's a total cheese bomb!! It's one of the must-eat dishes when you visit Hanpanjip, so I recommend trying it.

Is Hanpanjip Changwon Bonggok worth a visit?

I'd really recommend Hanpanjip Bonggok to anyone looking for a good place to eat in Bonggok-dong, Changwon! It's open until late so visiting felt easy, and the staff were all friendly, so it was a great experience.
