Can you eat Busan's Chopilsal Pork Grill in Hongdae?
Chopilsal Pork Grill (초필살돼지구이) is a very, very famous pork grill in Busan, and now you can eat it at the Hongdae branch in Seoul too. I lived in Busan for 4 years, and it's the place my friends always recommended whenever they visited Busan (paid with my own money).
And then it opened in Seoul too?? As soon as I found out I really wanted to go, and this time I went with a friend~ I'd even seen reviews of people going from Seoul all the way to Busan just for the pork skin, haha. Now we can eat it in Seoul! The dwitgogi (Busan-style pork scraps) and pork belly are super super super good too, but the pork skin is a must!!! If you're looking for Korean BBQ in Hongdae, I really recommend Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch.
Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch: location and opening hours
Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch is at 172 Donggyo-ro, 1st-2nd floors, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and it's open Mon-Thu 12:00-24:00 (last order 23:00) and Fri-Sun 12:00-02:00 (last order 01:00). Wi-Fi ⭕️, parking ❌, reservations ⭕️.

When you see this place, you've arrived~ It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station, I think.

The atmosphere at 6:30pm
We got to Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch around 6:30pm and it was already this crowded.. We were seated on the 2nd floor. When you go up the stairs

there's a 2nd-floor space like this~~ Tidy seating, right? haha The atmosphere was exactly like the places I used to go to in Busan, lol. I've been to both the Gwangan branch and the Haeundae main branch, and I have good memories of both. By the way, the Gwangan branch has a crazy wait..^_^
You can store your coat and bags under the chair. Wait, what is this thing.. so cute!!!!!!!

There's a Naver review event too, so join in!!! The pork skin is great, but I want that hair tie so badly...

Menu and what two people paid
Two of us ordered 2 servings of salted pork belly, 2 servings of pork skin and two drinks at Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch, and the total was ₩48,000. Here's the menu~~ We ordered like this~
- Salted pork belly ₩12,000 × 2
- Pork skin ₩9,500 × 2
- Pepsi Zero ₩2,500
- Chilsung Cider ₩2,500
- Total ₩48,000

Are the side dishes the same as at Busan's Chopilsal Pork Grill?
At Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch, the side dishes come out first once you order, and the lineup is almost the same as in Busan.

What was interesting is that the mussam (pickled radish wraps) and perilla leaves were layered alternately. Maybe perilla and radish wraps taste better eaten together?? haha I ate one radish wrap, then one perilla leaf, then there was another radish wrap underneath and I was like, ahh~! lol
My favorite myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic-like greens) and scallion salad~~ ❤️

Remember that roasted soybean powder and the red sauce. Dip the pork skin in both together and it's amazing!!

Grilling salted pork belly and a tip for meljeot
The salted pork belly at Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch was thick, with a good mix of lean meat and fat. They set up the grill and the meljeot (salted fermented anchovy sauce), then bring the pork belly~~ They said they'd grill the pork skin and bring it to us.
We got our drinks too. Paper cups as well, nice touch!!

Delicious meat~~ my friend is grilling it for me haha The lighting is so strong that the color of the meat ㅠㅠ doesn't come through in the photo. It was meat where you could clearly see the freshness!! Wow~~ my friend and I both marveled at it, lol. Saying it looks so good!!
When the meljeot boils, push it to the side. If it reduces too much, add water!

Looks so good, right,, I'm craving it again.

What a generous spread. Move the cooked pieces to the side and put garlic on the grill. I'm eating it topped with myeongran (salted pollock roe), and that's meant to be eaten with the pork skin......... hehe it goes well with the pork belly too? ^_^
How does the pork skin taste?
The pork skin (₩9,500) at Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch seemed identical in taste and texture to Busan's, and it was chewy and delicious 😍 Next up, my beloved pork skin!! I remember once ordering 2 meats and 1 pork skin with my boyfriend and then ordering more pork skin, lol.

Glad I ordered two from the start ^^ My friend says it tastes like smoked duck haha

We had a meat party. Eat it all up and that's a full meal done!

If you're looking for great Korean BBQ or pork skin in Hongdae, I recommend Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch 🥰❤️
