Paju café with an August strawberry cherry croissant: On the Rail

In short

On the Rail is a large bakery café with a wide outdoor garden on Imjingak-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju, Gyeonggi. The writer drove there with her mom and ordered an iced americano for 5,500 won, an iced café latte for 6,500 won, and a strawberry croissant for 7,500 won that arrived piled with strawberries and cherries even in August, sweet and tart at once. It was too hot to sit outside that day, but the garden view and the fire-pit area at On the Rail are worth a return trip in autumn.

Living in Gangseo-gu, I end up popping over to Gimpo or Paju every once in a while haha. This time I visited a big café in Paju with a really well-put-together outdoor space! Imjingak Peace Nuri Park is nearby too, so it's worth stopping by after a visit there. It's also close to Imjingang Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, in case that helps.

I loved that it's a large café and a late-night café, but what really got me was how nicely done the outdoor garden was — I already want to come back in fall! Seems like a great spot to bring your dog too. There are actual railroad tracks on the way in, so I wondered if that's why it's called On the Rail haha. More details below with photos!

Where is On the Rail, and what are the hours and parking?

We drove there, and once you pass the railroad tracks, the parking lot shows up!

The parking area was really spacious. Looked like if it fills up, there's more parking further back too. No need to worry about parking here.

Let's go inside~~

What the inside of On the Rail looks like

The inside of On the Rail is so clean!! Bright white tones with floor-to-ceiling windows give it a really airy feel. Outside there was also a second-floor seating area.

On the Rail bakery and drink menu with prices

Time to order first! There were quite a lot of bread options too. Definitely a big bakery café 👀 After some deliberation I picked the strawberry croissant.

They have a Pororo drink kids love, so this place seems great to bring kids to.

Here's the drink menu~ We ordered

  • Iced Americano ₩5,500
  • Iced Café Latte ₩6,500
  • Strawberry Croissant ₩7,500

That's what we got! The fire-pit pricing was here too. Grilling marshmallows and jjondegi (chewy taffy snack) over the fire sounds so good.. 🤤

When you order, they give you a buzzer.

There's also a microwave and oven!

The food arrived~~ I thought photos would look better outside, so I went out. And wow, it really is pretty... the view is unreal!!

You could tell the owner had put a lot of work into decorating it — clearly well maintained. It was a really hot day so everything outdoor seating was packed away, but it looks like once it cools down a bit, you can sit outside.

And here's the signature spot — the fire pit!! Since they're open until 2am, it seems like a great place to come at night with a partner or friends for some fire-gazing. That marshmallow-roasting visual is calling my name hahaha.

How do the iced latte and americano taste?

Of course I took photos of the drinks too. They looked so pretty in the sunlight 😍 But because of the heat, we ended up moving inside haha.

This one's the latte I drank~~ Nutty and delicious! You barely notice any acidity, so it should suit Korean tastebuds perfectly. And this is the americano my mom had~~ she said it was nutty and tasty too.

The strawberry cherry croissant On the Rail serves in August

On the Rail's strawberry croissant (₩7,500) is topped with both strawberries and cherries. Strawberries in August of all things!! Sweet and tangy and delicious. Plus cherries, which I love 🤤❤️❤️

The cream wasn't runny at all and tasted great. Fruit cream croissants are the best.

If you're looking for a large café in Paju with a great atmosphere, I'd recommend On the Rail 🥰
