Jamsil play café how-to: OTT room remote and chicken set, One Play

In short

One Play Jamsil Branch is a manga, board game and OTT (streaming) play café on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Baekjegobun-ro 7-gil in Songpa, Seoul. The writer changed into slippers, chose a plan at the 3rd-floor counter, ordered the chicken set (chicken, tteokbokki and popcorn chicken) and spent 2 hours watching Netflix in a 2nd-floor OTT room. Verdict: when you need to pass a couple of hours on a weekend, One Play Jamsil Branch is a good alternative to a PC bang.

When you need to kill a couple of hours out on a weekend, a PC bang is fine, but One Play Jamsil Branch is a really good option too: manga, board games and OTT all in one place, with tasty food as well.

Where is One Play Jamsil Branch and what are the opening hours?

One Play Jamsil Branch uses the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building at 20 Baekjegobun-ro 7-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and it is open daily from 10:00 to 24:00. The 2nd floor has the board games, the OTT rooms and the game console rooms; the 3rd floor has the counter and the manga café area.

How to use One Play Jamsil Branch: entry steps

You take your shoes off on the 2nd floor, then order at the counter on the 3rd floor. It's a bit like a public bathhouse system.

  • 1. First, change into slippers on the 2nd floor.
  • 2. Take a key from the shoe locker, put your shoes in and lock it.
  • 3. Go up to the 3rd floor and order at the counter.
  • 4. Just pick one of the plans.

Board game and manga rules at One Play Jamsil Branch

The board games are on the 2nd floor and the manga is on the 3rd floor. You can use both freely on the 3rd floor or in the OTT rooms, then return them to their place. One catch: you can't use board games or manga in the game console rooms.

2nd-floor Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and OTT rooms

For the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation rooms on the 2nd floor, claim the room you want, then take your ID and the store card to the counter staff and ask. The signs say that once you're in an OTT room you can use Netflix, wavve, Disney+, WATCHA, Apple TV+, TVING, Coupang Play and CHZZK.

There is also a One Play Jamsil-only event where you add the KakaoTalk channel and spin a roulette to win a coupon, apparently.

How do you turn on Netflix and other OTT apps in the TV rooms?

In the TV rooms, use the remote on the wall only to turn the power on, then use the small black remote to pick OTT like Netflix or YouTube. The steps on the sign in the room go like this.

  • 1. Turn on the screen: with the remote attached to the wall, press only the screen ON (power) button. No need to press any other button.
  • 2. Use OTT: with the small black remote, use NETFLIX, YouTube, TVING, Disney+ and so on.
  • If the small remote doesn't work: press the external input button on the wall remote to switch to HDMI, then pick the HDMI you're using from the list of connected devices (TV / HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 / HDMI 3).
  • If it still doesn't connect, ask the manager.

There are NFC and QR instructions too. On Android, drag down from the top right of the screen and long-press NFC to turn on the default or read/write mode; on iPhone, tilt the top of the phone at 45 degrees against the NFC tag and then turn on the screen.

What to watch out for with the One Play usage card

The One Play Jamsil usage card is for the holder only and can't be transferred. You are responsible for compensation if you lose the card, damage books or steal items, and when you leave you must hand in the board games, books, game packs and tableware you used together with the card.
