Yangjae walnut pie shop's cream cheese MIX 2 box: Hodu Kkakki Brothers
In short
Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) is a takeout-only walnut pie shop near Yangjae Station Exits 3–4, on Nambusunhwan-ro 351-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer took home the MIX 2 assorted pie box (₩33,000), which includes cream cheese walnut and milk cream walnut pies, and shared it with family, finding the pies less sweet than typical walnut pie and the cream cheese walnut pie especially soft. For a not-too-sweet walnut pie to give as a gift or keep as a snack, the Hodu Kkakki Brothers Yangjae branch is a good fit.

Today I had an errand near Yangjae Station, and it turns out there's a famous walnut pie place right there! So I went straight over and bought some.
Where is Hodu Kkakki Brothers' Yangjae branch?
Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) Yangjae branch is at 10 Nambusunhwan-ro 351-gil, Unit 101, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and it's a quick walk from Yangjae Station Exit 3–4. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00 (break 14:30–15:30), Saturday 11:00–20:00 and Sunday 11:00–19:00, with no break on weekends.
The Yangjae branch is the closest one to Yangjae Station. When I searched, it looked like there's also a branch in Bangbae? Just so you know if you're headed there!

What about the sign and parking?
The sign at the Yangjae branch is smaller than you'd expect, so look carefully. There's no parking lot, but you can stop briefly in front of the shop, so I just waited there with my hazard lights on.

Shall we go in?

It looks like a pink door out of a fairy tale, haha. Going in! :)

Can you eat in at Hodu Kkakki Brothers?
Maybe because it's takeout-only, the Yangjae branch's hall is small and there's no space to sit and eat. All the pies have to be taken to go.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers MIX 1, 2 and 3 assorted pies: contents and prices
The popular assorted whole-pie sets at Hodu Kkakki Brothers are MIX 1 (₩34,900), MIX 2 (₩33,000) and MIX 3 (₩31,000). They're whole pies, takeout only.

- MIX 1 (₩34,900): Signature Walnut Pie 2 pcs, Original Pecan Pie 2 pcs, Hazelnut Cacao Pie 2 pcs, Macadamia Cheese Pie 2 pcs

- MIX 2 (₩33,000): Signature Walnut Pie 2 pcs, Original Pecan Pie 2 pcs, Milk Cream Walnut Pie 2 pcs, Cream Cheese Walnut Pie 2 pcs

- MIX 3 (₩31,000): Signature Walnut Pie 4 pcs, Original Pecan Pie 4 pcs

Can you buy pie by the slice or mini pies?
Yes, the pies are also sold by the slice! Check the menu board ><

They even have a matcha cream walnut pie? I'll have to come back and try that next time.

Drinks and coffee at Hodu Kkakki Brothers
There were more drinks than I expected. They say they use a fire-roasted special blend of Kenyan, Colombian and Indonesian beans, which gives a rich flavor and aroma! Maybe I should have had a coffee too. Prices were reasonable, and there's a good range of teas and ades (fruit sodas) besides coffee.

These are the pies sold by the slice :) There are mini pies too, so keep that in mind if you're buying!

How did the MIX 2 taste?
I chose MIX 2 (₩33,000) at Hodu Kkakki Brothers, and it was less sweet than regular walnut pie, with a wholesome kind of sweetness. Since it's takeout, they got it ready quickly! Can you guess which pies I ordered? haha

MIX 2, of course! I wanted to try the cream cheese and milk cream. Regular walnut pie is usually really sweet, but Hodu Kkakki Brothers' walnut pie is not very sweet, but not unsweet either (?), just a wholesome sweetness! My parents said the walnut pie was delicious, but I thought the cream cheese one was soft and delicious..? So I ate them all myself, haha

How to store Hodu Kkakki Brothers walnut pie
They say to keep the walnut pie in a zip bag in the fridge (7 days) and eat it cold for the richest flavor and moistest texture. If frozen (30 days), let it thaw naturally for about 10 minutes and it tastes even better! I finished mine in two days..hahaha

What ingredients does Hodu Kkakki Brothers use for its pies?
Hodu Kkakki Brothers says it makes its pies fresh every morning without refined sugar! They're sweetened with natural honey, oligosaccharide syrup and maple syrup. So it's a sweetness unlike sugar, not overly sweet! Great for parents or as a gift too.
They say they knead and rest organic wheat flour, rice flour and almond flour with natural butter, and make the thinnest, crispiest 1mm pie crust by hand themselves.

Not too sweet, so even older folks will like it! I recommend Hodu Kkakki Brothers' walnut pie as a gift or a healthy snack.
