In short
Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) is a handmade walnut pie takeout shop in a Dogok-dong alley near Exit 4 of Yangjae Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer took home a mix pie set with 2 each of 4 flavors (signature walnut, hazelnut cacao, cream cheese walnut and original pecan) and found the thin, crisp crust and thick toppings felt premium. Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) in Dogok-dong is really famous for its walnut pies near Yangjae Station. If you're looking for a dessert gift around Yangjae Station, I recommend Hodu Kkakki Brothers.
Where is Hodu Kkakki Brothers, and what about parking?
Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 of Yangjae Station. Come out of Exit 4 and turn into the alley next to the CU convenience store, and you'll see it right away.
🚗 The shop has no parking lot of its own, but since it's a takeout shop, there's a spot right in front where you can stop and wait for about 5 minutes if you're just picking up. I've also marked a nearby public parking lot on the map, so have a look.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers opening hours and break time
Hodu Kkakki Brothers is open Monday to Friday 11:00–21:00, with a break time on weekdays from 14:30 to 15:30. On weekends there's no break time: Saturday 11:00–20:00 and Sunday 11:00–19:00.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers Yangjae exterior and interior
The exterior of the Yangjae shop really stands out thanks to the big sign that says "walnut pie" (호두파이). The red door gave me a fantasy-comic-book kind of feeling.

The inside is small. The counter is right there as you walk in, and dessert pie models were lined up neatly in the bakery showcase.

Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a handmade walnut pie takeout shop, so there are no tables to sit and enjoy your dessert. Just so you know.

The menu at Hodu Kkakki Brothers has these pies:
- Signature walnut pie

There are also sets that put several flavors together, like the Premium Mix Pie, Premium Assorted Pie, Nut & Cream Pie and Cream Mix Pie, which makes them great to pack up as a dessert gift.

The dessert showcase has one sample of each pie on display, so you can check what they look like too.
The mini walnut pie and mini pecan pie in particular are popular as snacks, and they're also a well-known dessert for gifts and thank-you presents around Yangjae Station.

They also had a Dubai crispy pie made with Dubai kadayif (shredded pastry).
I stop by Hodu Kkakki Brothers pretty often, whenever I need a dessert gift or a snack for the office around Yangjae Station.

Is the packaging good enough for a gift?
Since Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a takeout shop, they keep stacks of packaging boxes in the store. The pies go into a pretty box, which then goes into a clear bag, so it looks classy and works well as a gift.

This time I packed up a mix pie set to eat as my own snack.

How to store Hodu Kkakki Brothers walnut pies
They also included a leaflet that explains nicely how the handmade pies are made and how to store them. According to it, you can keep them in the fridge for up to 7 days and in the freezer for up to 30 days. Pies with cream on top should be eaten as soon as possible, within 3 days.

The 4-flavor mix pie from Hodu Kkakki Brothers, tasted
I picked 4 flavors, 2 of each, for the Hodu Kkakki Brothers mix pie set and took them home.

Each pie sits individually on a sheet of parchment paper, so it's easy to take them out one at a time.

The 4 flavors I chose this time were the signature walnut pie, hazelnut cacao pie, cream cheese walnut pie and original pecan pie.

All the pies at Hodu Kkakki Brothers have a thin but crisp tart crust, with a thick layer of filling and toppings, so they feel super high-end.

My favorite, the cream cheese walnut pie, has a thick layer of cream cheese on top that's tangy and nutty at the same time.

It's a classy dessert where the nutty almond cream and the sweet filling go together so well. It pairs really nicely with coffee too.
They say the pies at Hodu Kkakki Brothers are handmade and sweetened with natural honey, maple syrup, oligosaccharide syrup and the like instead of sugar, so you can enjoy them in a healthier way.
