Italian brunch café near Olympic Park with rosé pasta set: Damgeum

In short

Damgeum (담금) is an Italian brunch café in Seongnae-dong, Gangdong, Seoul, within walking distance of Olympic Park. On a weekend visit for two, the writer ordered the Deutto Rosato brunch set, with rosé pasta as the main, at Damgeum's kiosk, and the fresh-tomato sauce was rich without being heavy, so it never got tiresome. Damgeum is a good choice when you want a meal and a café stop in one place after a walk in Olympic Park.

I was looking for a brunch spot near Olympic Park for the weekend. I wanted to take a walk and also have a really good meal, and this place had a nice atmosphere and a menu I liked, so we went. In the end I was happy with everything from the food to the space, and I'd love to come back.

Location and parking: walkable from Olympic Park

Damgeum (담금) is an easy walk from Olympic Park, so getting there was convenient. It works well after an exhibition or a stroll in the park (people call it "Olgong"), and it's a low-effort spot for brunch after a workout too. If you're looking for a good café near Olympic Park, it's worth keeping on your radar.

For parking, use the space next to the entrance where the ice cream sign is. There are about two spots, and cars are parked overlapping, so up to about 4 cars fit. It isn't a huge lot, but it wasn't hard to use.

An exterior and interior like a little Italian village café in Seongnae-dong

From the outside, it felt like this one shop had been lifted straight out of Italy. It isn't over-decorated; it's relaxed, styled like a café in some small village. The interior is tidy too, which made eating comfortable. It was quiet enough to talk over a meal, and the tables are spaced well, so it never felt cramped.

What's in the Deutto Rosato brunch set?

Ordering is done at a kiosk, which was handy. We went back and forth between the two brunch sets and chose the Deutto Rosato set, which has rosé pasta as the main.

The drink chosen with the set

Since it's a set, you can pick whatever drink you like, so everyone can choose to taste, and the whole thing was pretty generous. I worried a brunch menu might not be filling, but it was more satisfying than I expected.

The rosé pasta made with fresh tomatoes

Damgeum's rosé pasta is said to be made by cooking fresh tomatoes in-house. From the first bite, the sauce felt rich but not heavy. They say it's based on traditional Italian cooking methods, and when I tried it, the sauce had real depth while the ingredients' own flavor still came through, so the balance was good overall.

You could definitely tell the ingredients were fresh. When I dipped the bread in the sauce, the tomato aroma was alive, and the fresh feel meant I could eat to the very end without it getting to be too much. It isn't the type of dish that wins you over with strong, punchy flavors; the more you ate, the more comfortable it felt, and your hand just kept reaching for it.

The brunch set is well put together, so I never got tired of it while eating. The main and the drink went well together, and I enjoyed it to the end without any sense of flavor fatigue. Brunch can get a bit greasy halfway through, but this set barely had that problem, which I liked.

Good for going solo, or on a date for two?

Looking around while we ate, I saw some people having just coffee and plenty enjoying brunch. It felt fine for coming alone and also for two people to sit and chat at leisure. So if you're looking for a good café in Seongnae-dong, I thought this was a place where you can take care of a meal and a café stop in one go.

Overall the food was well made and the space was comfortable, the kind of place where you want to stay a long time. These days there are lots of places that only look good for photos, but here the food was satisfying too, which made it more memorable. It's good for a date, and an easy, no-pressure weekend brunch spot.

What I want to try next time

Next time at Damgeum, I definitely want to try the gelato. I saw it at another table and it looked great, and I think it would be a perfect dessert after the meal. Brunch plus gelato sounds like an even more satisfying course, so now I have one more reason to go back.

If you're looking for a brunch with a nice atmosphere near Olympic Park, or you want something a little different in Western food, it's worth a visit. It's easy to get to and the food was satisfying, so it's a good place to spend a relaxed time. I'd especially recommend it to anyone looking for a Western-food date spot near Olympic Park.
