Eye exam at a Daegu optical shop found a 3-step gap: Second Face

I've worn glasses since elementary school, so my eyesight has always been pretty bad.

As an adult, my vision hadn't seemed to change much, so I never bothered getting it checked again. But then I realized it had actually been 5 years since my last proper eye exam. With how much I've been staring at monitors lately, I figured it was finally time for a real checkup.

My first thought walking in was, "Wow, this is bigger than I expected!" Since it's a fairly new store, the whole place felt clean and well-organized. What stood out most was the sheer variety of frames — from everyday practical glasses to premium brands you'd normally see in a department store, all in one place. House brands, total brands, and domestic brands were each displayed separately, so if you enjoy browsing frames, it's a great place to take your time.

One brand I was especially interested in was Moscot.

In the binocular vision test room at Second Face Jukjeon Branch, they thoroughly re-measured my eyes, and the results showed a 3-step difference in prescription between my two eyes. I'd come in wearing contacts, so I had to take them out before the test — there was a sink and hand sanitizer in the consultation area, which made it easy to do that on the spot.

I was genuinely shocked by the results. I'd always assumed my left and right eyes were pretty similar, so I'd been wearing contacts with nearly the same prescription in both.

And apparently I have astigmatism on top of that — my eyes were in worse shape than I thought, haha. It made me realize I really should have gotten checked sooner than 5 years.

Fitting the lens prescription wasn't a one-and-done measurement either. They had me read text at a distance, then walk around the store wearing the glasses to check for dizziness or discomfort, adjusting the prescription several times along the way.

When they added the astigmatism correction, I felt slightly dizzy, so after discussing it, we decided to leave that out. I appreciated that they didn't just push the priciest lens or option — they let me choose based on what actually felt comfortable to wear. The optician was really kind too, explaining only what I needed without over-selling, which made it easy to decide.

In the end, I went with the pair I liked most — which also happened to be the one they'd recommended.

Funny thing though — looking at the frames, the design was actually pretty similar to the glasses I wore back in elementary school. Trends really do come back around, haha.
