Namyangju coffee museum café, rice Camembert cake: Waltz & Dr. Mahn

The weather has been so lovely lately that I drove out to Yangpyeong and stopped at Waltz and Dr. Mahn (왈츠와 닥터만), a café near Dumulmeori. Here's my full review :)

Where is Waltz and Dr. Mahn? Hours and parking

Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a large café right on the Bukhan River in Joan-myeon, Namyangju. It's open 11:00-21:00 with last order at 20:00. Groups are welcome, there are high chairs, and parking is available.

It's close to the Water Garden, Sujongsa Temple, Ungilsan and Dumulmeori, so it's a nice stop after sightseeing nearby :)

Parking is free, and the lot is big enough that I parked with no stress. Enter via the alley between Namyangju Film Studios, the Coffee Museum bus stop and Jongga-jip.

This Bukhan River café caught my eye from the outside. It has a different charm from today's trendy cafés, with a classic feel like visiting an old European mansion,

and the building itself is so stylish that I was taking photos before I even went in. From the entrance to the whole building, it's fun to look at every detail!

I felt it's a great place not just for coffee but for a day when you want to spend time somewhere special :)

And the outdoor terrace is gorgeous, isn't it! Leaves fluttering in the breeze... the mood was just wonderful 🌿

Inside Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a coffee museum café

The interior was as anticipated as the exterior!

Unlike an ordinary café, Waltz and Dr. Mahn is also a coffee museum, so you can feel the coffee culture around you! Classic furniture, antique props and vintage coffee tools give the space its character.

Step inside and you can expect an atmosphere clearly different from the minimalist cafés in vogue. It feels calm, weighty and luxurious rather than sleek and cold.

The seats facing the Bukhan River are another draw. The classic interior and the natural scenery outside blend nicely, so it's a good place to rest with a cup of coffee. Personally, for photos here, rather than zooming in on one prop, include the table, chairs and window together and the mood really comes through 😊

Friday concerts and hand-drip coffee at Waltz and Dr. Mahn

Waltz and Dr. Mahn also holds Friday concerts! Classical music in a vintage space like this... I'd love to bring my parents next time ❤️

Besides regular café drinks, it's known for hand-drip coffee where you choose your beans. Since the place is built around coffee, it's interesting for people with firm coffee tastes too :)

While waiting for my order, I read the brochure on each table, which tells the history of Waltz and Dr. Mahn, and I loved it! Be sure to read it when you visit :)

The coffee and dessert menus are so varied that I agonized for a long time before choosing! I had some questions and asked the staff, who explained everything kindly, thank you :)

How was the House Blend?

I was told the House Blend is Waltz and Dr. Mahn's signature coffee, delicately balancing the traditional bitter, sweet, sour and astringent notes of regular coffee!

I didn't expect much, but the aroma and flavor were just right... delicious even for someone who knows nothing about coffee 🤎

The cup was so pretty that I looked, and it was a Burberry cup... Waltz and Dr. Mahn pays attention to every single cup. Happy eyes, happy mouth here... 💓

Is the Raspberry Yogurt Delight worth trying?

Yogurt Delight is described as a perfect harmony of fruit sherbet and homemade yogurt ice cream, and you can choose blueberry, raspberry or mango. I picked raspberry (₩16,000) :)

You really, really have to try this... One bite and my partner and I were like, whoa...?

It's homemade yogurt ice cream, so the taste is like nothing I've had elsewhere... It went well with the raspberry jam, and the crunch of nuts was great too. It's tasty and generous in portion, so I highly recommend it!

Gluten-free Camembert cheese cake

The item I can't leave out of this review: the Camembert cheese cake (₩9,000)! It's a gluten-free cake made with domestic rice, a dessert where the soft cheese flavor meets the aroma of cocoa powder, and it went really well with coffee ✨

Rich, soft cheese with a subtle bitterness from the cocoa, absolutely the best! A cake that's perfect alongside coffee.

Tasty, great view and great photos, so I think it's number one among Bukhan River cafés 🥹

I was happy with everything I ordered, so I plan to come back with friends 😊

A walk in front of the café and the receipt review event

After eating at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, strolling along the road in front of the café was lovely too. A quiet place that was so healing!

This large Namyangju café lets you experience not just the coffee but also the architecture, classic interior and coffee museum. It suits anyone wanting an old-fashioned atmosphere unlike typical big cafés, or a special stop on a drive along the Bukhan River ❤️

I especially recommend it to hand-drip fans, people who love antique atmospheres, and anyone looking for an anniversary or date spot 😊
