The atmosphere: work dinners, friend meetups and dates

The atmosphere at Jibduri Dongdaegu Station Branch is relaxed and casual — great for a get-together with friends, but also comfortable enough for a work dinner with colleagues. It's a cozy, laid-back Sincheon-dong Korean bar, so I'd also recommend it as a date spot!

It seems best suited to people who like ordering several dishes to share, rather than filling up on just one big plate.

Jibduri's menu and what we ordered

Here's the menu! Looking it over, there was quite a range — from yukhoe (raw beef tartare) to all kinds of Korean bar snacks. It looked like a great spot for a group to pick and share dishes according to taste, and good for combining a meal with drinks.

This time we ordered the yukhoe/yukhoe tataki half-and-half, corn fritters, and gimtae (seasoned laver) rice balls. 〰️Already so excited〰️

Complimentary shio kombu cabbage salad and snacks

A shio kombu cabbage salad and snacks came out as complimentary sides. Nice touch.

We also ordered a lemon highball! Cool and refreshing, right up my alley. Goes nicely and lightly with the food.

Yukhoe and yukhoe tataki half-and-half

The yukhoe/yukhoe tataki half-and-half. I love yukhoe so I was really looking forward to this one, and it was great being able to try both yukhoe and yukhoe tataki on a single plate. The yukhoe was soft and clean-tasting, while the tataki had a totally different texture and flavor, so it was fun switching back and forth between the two >,,<

This was personally my favorite dish of the meal, so if you love super-fresh yukhoe, I'd definitely recommend the yukhoe/yukhoe tataki half-and-half 👍👍

Corn fritters and gimtae rice balls

The corn fritters! The sweetness of the corn paired well with the crispy fried texture, making them easy to pick at. Eating them alongside the soft yukhoe gave a nice contrast in texture between bites. Surprisingly, they also went perfectly with cool vanilla ice cream.

The last thing we ordered was the gimtae rice balls! When you're mostly eating bar snacks, you can end up a little hungry, but the gimtae rice balls made for a solid, filling finish. The distinct aroma and savory flavor of the gimtae, plus the easy bite-size shape, made them a great pairing with the yukhoe too. The salted seafood inside adds a rich umami kick — addictive stuff. Chureh-chureh.
