Went with my Sapporo trip crew to Ganppa Beer Gwangalli 2. Tebasaki (Japanese fried chicken wings) with Sapporo draft beer — the combo is insane..🍗🍺 I'm usually pretty clueless about beer flavor, but one sip in and I was like "THIS is why people rave about Sapporo draft.." instantly converted 😋🤩 haha

That lively Japanese izakaya energy with a dash of retro charm! The standing-bar setup was such a fun surprise, and we made the most of the black-and-white photo booth and guestbook tucked in one corner 📸

🌊🫧 It's tucked just off Gwangalli Beach, right along the path to the subway station, so it's perfect for a light nightcap as your second or final round 🍺 The vibe is relaxed and it's great for solo drinking too!!

🍺 The afterglow of that Sapporo trip with my crew was still lingering pretty strong, and I'd been missing it ever since, so when we ended up in Gwangalli this time, I dragged everyone to Ganppa Beer Gwangalli 2, which had been getting a lot of buzz as one of the best beer bars in Gwangalli!

We'd already properly enjoyed rounds one and two, and were on the hunt for a light final drink to cap the night. Sapporo draft with tebasaki? There was no resisting that!

📍 It's on a bigger street just off Gwangalli Beach, so you dodge the beachfront crowds, and since it's right on the way to the subway station, it was truly perfect for a last stop.

What a standing beer bar is like

The moment we walked in, the Japanese izakaya feel layered with that retro touch made it feel like we'd stepped into an actual local watering hole in Japan. The music was genuinely upbeat too, and we got swept up in the vibe!

There are no seats at all — it's a standing beer bar, which felt so novel. But honestly, for us it was perfect, since we weren't there for a long meal, just a light beer ✨

The black-and-white photo booth and guestbook

Tucked in one corner of the bar is a black-and-white photo booth and a guestbook, so we made memories with photos and left our mark in the guestbook — had a blast.

Honestly I'm usually pretty indifferent when it comes to beer, but one sip in and I found myself nodding along, thinking "THIS is why people rave about Sapporo draft..!!" Instantly understood why this place keeps getting recommended as one of the best beer bars in Gwangalli!

Ganppa Beer is an official Sapporo Beer collaboration bar, so they take draft quality seriously — you could see straight into a fridge in the back of the bar, kept like a showcase, storing the kegs. They keep it strictly at 2℃ and follow a rule of finishing a keg within 24 hours of opening, and on top of that, they use ultra-thin glasses imported directly from Japan. Maybe that's why the moment it touched my lips it was so dizzyingly cold, with that smooth creamy foam and a crisp finish going down — genuinely the best. Just kept gulping it down! 🍺

Price of the tebasaki and two-draft set

And on top of that, the menu lineup and value for money are amazing. The set menus are really well put together, so we ordered the 'tebasaki + two Sapporo draft beers' set and added two more drafts on top 📌

💸 Two cold drafts plus a side dish, all for under ₩30,000 — a totally reasonable price that made it easy to just relax and enjoy ❤️🔥

🍗🥗 The signature sweet-salty tebasaki was crispy outside and juicy inside — the perfect beer snack. Paired with the crunchy cabbage salad it came with, the balance was spot on!

Since it's a standing setup, table turnover is quick, so you can get in without waiting — that's another plus. Tucked away in an alley away from the beachfront crowds, it's a comfortable, no-judgment spot to enjoy on your own, so I'd highly recommend it to travelers or beer fans looking for a good solo-drinking spot in Gwangalli.
