Daegu brunch café for Friday lunch: dill shrimp rémoulade at Dento
In short
Dento is a new brunch café tucked into an alley off Bongsan Culture Street in Jung-gu, Daegu, best known for its 5-bite open sandwich plate with five different toppings. On a Friday around 1pm, the writer and a friend shared the 5-bite open sandwich plate and 2 iced Americanos, tasting their way from pan con tomate to truffle ricotta, and the shrimp rémoulade with its gentle dill aroma was the standout. Dento's charm lies in its cute interior and the fun of comparing five different open sandwiches on one plate.

This time I went with a friend to Dento, a brunch café newly opened in Bongsan-dong, Daegu. You can enjoy five kinds of sandwiches at once there, so I was curious what the menu was like. The cute interior and the colorful sandwiches caught my eye right away.

What's the vibe inside Dento?
Dento is a cute European-style brunch café with a brick-colored exterior, cream awnings and wood-tone furniture. We visited around 1pm on a Friday.

The charming mood hit me from the outside. The brick-colored walls, cream awnings and green plants around the entrance felt like a little European café.

The inside is decorated with cute little props too.

Wood-tone furniture, stylish tables, and plants and small props placed here and there added accents to the space.

Overall it felt calm yet warm, great for a brunch with a friend. It was especially fun to look around at all the tiny props.
What's in Dento's 5-bite open sandwich plate?
Dento's signature 5-bite open sandwich plate is five different toppings on small baguette slices. We ordered the plate and 2 iced Americanos.

Unlike an ordinary café, Dento has a wide range of sandwiches, which makes it a nice place for brunch. The 5-bite open sandwich plate, with a different topping on each, was the one I was most curious about!

Our sandwiches arrived. Lots of different ingredients sat on the small baguette slices, and all five had different colors, so they looked great right away! From the right, in order, the five are:
- Pan con tomate (tomato-rubbed bread)
- Avocado salmon
- Romesco roasted vegetables
- Shrimp rémoulade
- Truffle ricotta
Pan con tomate: a fresh first bite
First up, pan con tomate! The bright freshness of tomato really stands out. Baguette plus tomato made it a light, refreshing way to start.

Avocado salmon: nutty and lightly salty
Second is avocado salmon, a combo of creamy avocado and lightly salty salmon. The richness of the avocado plus the salmon's flavor felt different from the first one.

Romesco roasted vegetables: mellow grilled veggies
Third, romesco roasted vegetables! It's topped with roasted vegetables like broccoli and mushrooms. You get the mild taste of the vegetables together with the nutty flavor of the romesco sauce.

Shrimp rémoulade: my top pick of the day
Fourth is shrimp rémoulade. The shrimp and sauce come together nutty yet fresh. Unlike the others, this one has shrimp, so it has its own charm. I liked the shrimp rémoulade best. The faint aroma of herb dill went really well with the shrimp :)
Truffle ricotta: a rich, nutty finish
Last is truffle ricotta! The truffle aroma and the softness of ricotta cheese are the point here. It was a little richer and nuttier than the earlier ones, a good way to finish. All five had different ingredients, so it was fun to compare them one by one!

Dento's iced Americano takeaway cup
Dento's takeaway cup has a cute design that suits the café's mood. I was drinking my iced Americano with the sandwiches and had some left, so I took it to go. The design is so adorable that even a small detail like this was fun to look at.
Dento, the Bongsan-dong brunch café: my thoughts after visiting

Dento was a lovely place for a light brunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon! The cute interior was pretty, but what I'll especially remember is getting five different sandwiches on a single plate.
