I was hunting for a lunch spot near Keimyung University and ended up at Myeonsikdang Keimyung University Branch (면식당 계명대점), where you can get noodles and katsu together. Near a university, value for money is the best, right?!

It was pretty hot that day, so I was craving cold noodles rather than hot broth, and there was a set that came with katsu too. I walked in without a second thought.

Go into the building and head up to the 2nd floor. I thought the restaurant would be small, but once I got inside it was much bigger than I expected.

The space is big and the tables are nicely spaced out, so eating alone is comfortable. Not only that, the tables are spread far apart from each other, which is rare these days. Introverted social distancing, basically 🤣

There are also lots of window seats that are easy for one person. I think it'd be so nice for a quiet meal alone.

In the middle of the restaurant there's a phone-charging area that several people can share. The solo seats have wired charging and even wireless charging, so you can watch videos and charge while you eat. Love it 😊

W-wow, look at all those menu items 😂 There were so many that I got a happy case of choice paralysis 😂 The more options there are, the worse I get at choosing, so I stared at the menu for ages. I wanted this, I wanted that, and all the dithering just made me hungrier.

Mozzarella cheese katsu + mini cold soba for ₩14,900: how did it taste?

After much deliberation, I ordered the mozzarella cheese katsu + mini cold soba (₩14,900) and a lemonade (₩6,000).

Dip, nom nom. 😋 It came with tonkatsu sauce, a spicy sauce, wasabi, pink salt and curry seasoning, so you can enjoy it different ways to suit your taste.

When I lifted the mozzarella cheese katsu with chopsticks, the cheese stretched out, there was that much inside. The outside was crispy and the inside moist, so the texture was really good. I worried the cheese would be too heavy, but it wasn't as overwhelming as I expected, and alternating between the basic sauce and the spicy sauce meant I never got tired of it. 😊

Cold soba and lemonade pairing

Eating cold soba after the mozzarella cheese katsu is a perfect match. I ordered a lemonade too, and it was tangy and cold, great to sip between bites. It's labeled as 2–3 servings, and when it came out it looked even bigger than that 🤣 Eating the katsu with the soba rather than on its own, I enjoyed it all the way to the end 😋

Who is Myeonsikdang Keimyung University Branch good for?

Overall I was satisfied the whole meal. 😊 The mood was easygoing whether you come solo, with friends or for a family meal, and the seating is roomy so you can eat comfortably.
