Sangwangsimni hair salon two-tone fix with gray coverage: Urban Ground

Lately the grays at my front hairline have been multiplying, my roots keep shooting up, and on top of that my whole head had gone reddish, so I honestly hated looking at my hair haha.. After a long time thinking it over, I finally went to Urban Ground Hair, a hair salon in Sangwangsimni, and had the head stylist (buwonjang) do my color really carefully! The result was better than I expected, so let me tell you all about it^

Urban Ground Hair Sangwangsimni Station Branch is a 1-minute walk from Sangwangsimni Station Exit 4, at 353 Wangsimni-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor of the VIP Building, so access is really the best. I'd recommend public transport, but if you drive, contact the salon beforehand and they'll give you parking directions!

What is the atmosphere like at Urban Ground Hair?

Step inside Urban Ground Hair and the clean, white-toned interior catches your eye right away.

The space is bright, so it never feels stuffy, and it actually put me in a good mood! If you book ahead, a name tag with your name is already stuck on your locker. I melted a little at a thoughtful detail like that haha

There's also a seat by the big picture window, perfect for zoning out while you wait!

While my color was processing, they prepared tea and snacks, and I ate them by the window^^

At Urban Ground Hair the shampoo area and the spa area are separate spaces, so I was comfortable the whole time. The staff were all so kind that even though it was my first visit, it didn't feel awkward at all^^

What is on the menu, and what did I get this time?

The menu is quite varied, so I recommend booking on the Naver Reservation page before you visit^^

What I got this time was the Premium + L'Oréal Metal DX SET! (extra charge depending on hair length)

• L'Oréal Metal DX clinic: deactivates metal components, said to reduce hair breakage by 87%
• Premium head spa (Verspa): massage + scalp massage + pack at the same time
• Layered cut: thinning out the volume + a natural cut

How were the top-to-bottom tone difference, grays and redness handled?

At Urban Ground Hair we went with gray coverage plus an all-over tone-down dye, calming the redness while matching the tone from top to bottom. My hair was dark on top and turned redder toward the ends, in a word, a total mess..... The head stylist looked over my hair carefully and said that if the tone difference between top and bottom is too big, it can look even messier!

After a long consultation we settled on a direction, and the way she listened to the style I wanted and my hair's condition one by one, and even explained her reasons, really made me trust her!

Before starting, she applied scalp protector carefully. Thanks to that, I felt no stinging or irritation at all during the whole dye process! She also mixed the dye separately for the roots and the rest, and applied it carefully. The head stylist did everything one-on-one herself from start to finish, which made me trust her even more! Best head stylist!!^^

What is the L'Oréal Metal DX clinic?

They say the L'Oréal Metal DX clinic deactivates the metal ions in tap water so the color shows at 100% and hair breakage drops sharply.

When I washed my hair at home, it didn't feel rough or dry at all and swung smoothly like my own natural hair, which was honestly amazing haha

Verspa head spa: is this heaven?

The moment that moved me most during my visit to Urban Ground Hair was the premium head spa. When I lay down at the Verspa massage shampoo station, a full-body massage began, and getting a head massage at the same time made me wonder if this was heaven lol

They say the Metal DX pack and shampoo remove buildup on the scalp, relieve headaches and stress, and remove the alkali left by frequent chemical treatments. After a scalp massage with the Metal DX pack, they finish with the L'Oréal Metal DX shampoo. My head felt so cool and fresh, and the whole 5 minutes or so lying there was pure healing! I kept thinking about it even after I got home haha

Finishing with a layered cut

After the color and clinic, she dried my hair and tidied it up with a layered cut. Even the cut alone left my hair springy^ haha

I have really thick hair, so she thinned it out a lot too, and it felt so much lighter and fresher! Once everything was blow-dried, my calm, settled hair color made my face look much brighter. The head stylist even carefully showed me how to finish-style it, so I think I can recreate it nicely at home^^

Verdict: would I go back to Urban Ground Hair in Sangwangsimni?

I really felt glad I came to this Sangwangsimni hair salon, Urban Ground Hair.

The head spa is the kind of healing that once you try it, you want it again lol

Because the head stylist talked at length about my hair's condition and looked after me carefully one-on-one from start to finish, my grays are neatly covered and the redness is gone, and my hair has turned into a calm, settled tone!
