Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch (어질 인 왕십리역점) is a two-floor bakery café on Majo-ro 9-gil in Seongdong, Seoul, near Wangsimni Station and Hanyang University. On an afternoon visit, the order was the signature Choco Milk Bowl (6,900 won), two iced Americanos (5,000 won each), the signature Basque cheesecake (5,900 won) and Matilda Choco (6,900 won). The Basque cheesecake was rich without being overly sweet, and the Choco Milk Bowl changed in flavor as its milk ice cream melted in. Eojil In is a good wood-toned café for taking your time over coffee and dessert.

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom (푸줏간생고기점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, near Exit 10 of Wangsimni Station, that grills pork belly on cast-iron cauldron lids. On a quiet mid-afternoon visit, the writer and her husband had fresh pork belly and pork neck (20,000 won each) grilled at the table by staff, with doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) on the side. Thanks to the thick cuts and unlimited stew and naengmyeon refills when a table orders one portion per person, the couple plans to return to Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom.

Returning after 4 years for an early dinner, the writer ordered the Steak Bowl and the Salchi Bowl (salsa chicken bowl) with extra seasoned chicken thigh, and liked the generous jumbo-size bowls, the well-cooked flap steak and the ample hummus. Seongsu burger shop revisit: sesame oil shake at Bored & Hungry
