Is parking easy at Keunsawi Ori Jip in Okgil-dong, Bucheon?
Keunsawi Ori Jip (큰사위 오리집) Bucheon Okgil Main Branch is in Okgil-dong, Sosa-gu, Bucheon, and the private parking lot in front of the building is big, so parking was really easy. I went for the first time with a friend while searching for a good duck place in Okgil-dong. I like duck to begin with, so I had expectations, and the meal turned out far more satisfying than I'd imagined.
On weekends and at mealtimes parking is often stressful, but Keunsawi has plenty of space, which made visiting a pleasure.

Atmosphere and the window seat overlooking the garden
The exterior was neat and the building fairly large, and the inside was just as spacious and kept pleasantly clean. From the window seats you can see the garden outside, so it never felt stuffy, and after eating you can rest for a while at the outdoor tables and chairs. I thought it would be a lovely place to spend relaxed time before and after a meal with family.

Keunsawi Special Course: how much food for two?
My friend and I ordered the Keunsawi Special Course. For two adult women, the portion was quite generous. It was so plentiful we could hardly finish it, so I thought the value was great.

Is it a good duck restaurant to go to with kids?
What impressed me most at Keunsawi was the care for children. They had baby tableware and hair ties ready, plus a separate kids' duck seaweed soup (miyeok-guk) that children can eat. As a parent, I'd really welcome that kind of thoughtfulness.

Self-bar gondeure shiitake rice
At the Keunsawi self-bar you can help yourself to gondeure (thistle) shiitake rice and white rice, and there's a seasoning sauce for the gondeure rice too. The self-bar was really well put together. The gondeure rice in particular smelled lovely and was nutty, so it was delicious even on its own. It paired even better with the duck dori-tang (spicy duck stew).

First course: bean sprout duck cypress steamer and freshly pressed sesame oil
In the Keunsawi Special Course, the cypress steamer (pyeonbaek-jjim) came out first. Steam rose the moment the lid of the wooden steamer came off, and the look of it alone raised my expectations. Thinly sliced duck sat on top of bean sprouts, and it was mild with no gamey smell. Eating the moist steamed duck with the sprouts was easy and light, and dipping it in the sesame oil served alongside added a nutty richness. 😋
Keunsawi is known for using sesame oil it presses itself, and you can feel the pride in that sesame oil all around the restaurant. The food really did carry that nutty flavor, which impressed me.

What does the signature duck dori-tang taste like?
After the steamer came Keunsawi's signature dish, the duck dori-tang. The spicy broth was loaded with garlic chives, mushrooms and rice cakes, and it was deep and rich, so my spoon kept going back for more. There was plenty of duck in it too, so I ate happily.

Finishing with fried rice
Of course the duck dori-tang meal ended with fried rice. You mix it yourself, topped with seaweed flakes and vegetables, and the spicy broth had soaked in, so it was really good. I finished the meal feeling fully satisfied right to the end.

The outdoor play area after the meal, and why I'd go back
Off to one side outside the restaurant there's also a small play area for kids. It has nostalgic games like gonggi (jacks) and jegi-chagi (a kicking shuttlecock game), so it looked like a nice way to pass time with children after eating. You could feel they'd thought about making it somewhere families can stay comfortably, not just a place to eat.
Maybe that's why I could see why so many customers come back to Keunsawi. This time I came with a friend, but next time I definitely want to bring the kids. It has tasty duck, a hearty course, a big parking lot and thoughtful care for children.
If you're looking for a Bucheon restaurant for a family meal, or a lunch spot near Starfield in Bucheon, I'd recommend Keunsawi Ori Jip Okgil Main Branch. It was highly satisfying for family outings and also for get-togethers with friends.
