I heard there's a sushi place near Yeongdae Hospital Station that serves fresh, clean sushi, so I went to Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch (스시나루 영대병원점) with my child on a weekend. The exterior already had that "this is a good restaurant" vibe and looked so tidy that I was excited before we even walked in.

Where to park at Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch
If you bring a car, the Uri paid parking lot (우리유료주차장) right near the restaurant is the easy option. On weekends and holidays you can also use the nearby Daegu Bank parking lot. I know parking info is what drivers want most, and you can eat here without worrying about it.
Sushi Naru atmosphere and seating: good for solo diners and families?
The inside is bright and warm with wood-tone interiors, and the seating ranges from a bar table for solo diners to four-person tables. It felt calm and tidy when we walked in, and it was so clean that my mood lifted right away.
The layout is really efficient. There's a long bar table that's comfortable for eating alone, cozy two-person tables, and about three four-person tables that suit families or groups of friends like us. It's easy to come alone and just as comfortable to come together.
The table was neatly set with spoons and chopsticks, clean cups, and soy sauce with small dishes. You could see that every little item was kept clean, so the care showed even before the meal.

What we ordered: 10-piece assorted sushi, 12-piece special sushi and cold soba
At Sushi Naru we ordered the assorted sushi (10 pieces), the special sushi (12 pieces) and refreshing cold soba (naengmomil, chilled buckwheat noodles). After browsing the menu slowly, this was the combination I picked to enjoy a full meal. There's a good variety of sushi, so it's easy to choose to your taste.

Sushi Naru is a good-value sushi spot in Daemyeong-dong where a mini udon comes as a set with your sushi order, which made the meal even more filling. The owner trims the fish and makes the sushi by hand as soon as you order, and he's so quick that the food was on the table fast. I was glad we didn't wait long.

What's in the 10-piece assorted sushi
The assorted sushi was an easygoing, representative menu made up of white fish sushi, salmon, shrimp, egg and fried tofu sushi (yubu chobap). It starts with fresh white fish sushi, then mild salmon, plump shrimp, soft egg and savory fried tofu sushi. It's a combination anyone can enjoy without any hit-or-miss.

What's in the 12-piece special sushi
The special sushi has tuna, salmon and white fish sushi plus eel, beef, soy-marinated shrimp and scallop, so it definitely feels special. I ordered it because I wanted a heartier, more varied taste, and it was a joy just to look at: tuna and salmon that melt in your mouth, chewy white fish, sweet eel, savory beef, salty-sweet soy shrimp and tender scallop.

Cold soba, the mini udon that comes with the set, and the salad
The cold soba we ordered alongside looked so cooling that it chilled me right to the chest. I stirred in a little wasabi and tried the broth: pleasantly salty-sweet yet sharp and clean, it cleared my head and went perfectly between pieces of sushi.

The mini udon that comes with the set had a broth that wasn't salty but had deep savory flavor, and my child ate it up happily. With chewy noodles and a warm, hearty broth, it was good enough to be a child's whole meal.

The salad served by default was also nuttier and fresher than I expected, just right to whet the appetite. The crisp fresh vegetables went nicely with the dressing, and it was great for cleansing the palate in between.

How does the sushi at Sushi Naru taste?
The fish on Sushi Naru's sushi is thickly cut and fresh, and the ratio of rice to wasabi was just right. Tasting the pieces one by one, you could really feel the freshness of the ingredients filling your mouth. The chew was lively, and I couldn't help but marvel at this Daemyeong-dong sushi.
The salmon was rich with no fishy taste at all, and the soy-marinated shrimp was plump yet chewy, just wonderful.

Is Sushi Naru a good sushi restaurant to visit with kids?
Even my picky eater happily dug into the mini udon, egg sushi and fried tofu sushi at Sushi Naru. My child, who normally eats very little, ate the cool udon along with sweet, soft egg sushi and fried tofu sushi, so the whole family enjoyed a satisfying meal out with smiles, and I felt really proud.

A glass of Kirin draft beer with the sushi
While eating the delicious sushi... I couldn't resist and added a glass of Kirin draft beer. The cold, crisp draft lifted the flavor of the sushi even more and refreshed my mouth, so I fully enjoyed the small joy of a daytime beer. Ahh~♡
