Daegu café for decaf pour-over coffee: Hands Coffee
In short
Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large café in Dong-gu, Daegu, overlooking Dongchon Resort. I tried a Decaf Special, Ethiopia Hambela Natural, and an ice cream waffle by the second-floor window, then visited the fourth-floor terrace. Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is ideal for a quick lift with fragrant coffee and a sweet waffle.

A large café overlooking Dongchon Resort
Today, here’s my visit to Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, a large café in Daegu!

It is in Dongchon Resort, one of Daegu’s cherry blossom spots and a great place for a drive or walk. It sits slightly uphill, so the view over Dongchon Resort is incredible. The building is big enough to spot at a glance even from afar.

The entrance to Hands Coffee is on the second floor.

They were promoting their summer bingsu (shaved ice dessert) menu, haha. I used to be so hooked on Hands Coffee’s green tea bingsu that I went often, so I should have it once more before summer ends.

The second floor has both the ordering counter and seating.

The interior is warm and upscale in wood tones. Hands Coffee’s signature classic, comfortable atmosphere feels woven throughout the whole space!! The leather sofa seats are soft too, perfect for sitting and chatting for a long time. The huge floor-to-ceiling windows bring the lush trees and distant scenery right into view from the window seats, so even just sitting there feels healing. Haha.

Ordering waffles and pour-over coffee
Hands Coffee is well known for its desserts.

Waffles are our favorite, especially the strawberry waffle available in winter—that’s the original classic—but today we ordered the ice cream waffle, haha. There are loads of other waffles too, including blueberry cream cheese, matcha red bean paste, chocolate banana, and granola peanut cream. We also ordered two pour-over coffees.

There are so many kinds of hand-drip coffee and drinks that you can order exactly to your taste.

Today’s choices were the Decaf Special and Ethiopia Hambela Natural.

They also sell various goods(?) such as tumblers, just so you know. Today we settled into a second-floor window seat with lush greenery outside.

After a short wait, our order arrived.

First, the two pour-over coffees.

My wife ordered the decaf, and I ordered the Ethiopia Hambela Natural.

How was the Decaf Special?
The Decaf Special tasting notes are maple syrup, caramel, and roasted almond. You can enjoy it without the caffeine burden. Even though it is decaf, it was not watery at all; the nutty roasted almond and gentle caramel sweetness came together so well that it felt like drinking regular nutty bean coffee. It was more delicious than I expected.

The refreshing aroma of Ethiopia Hambela Natural
The Ethiopia Hambela Natural tasting notes are cranberry, winey notes, dried fruit, and a medium body. I chose it because I tend to prefer acidity and fruity aromas, and it was an excellent choice!! Its rich, wine-like flavor was joined by the sweetness of dried fruit, making every sip wonderfully bright and clean. Over ice, its distinctive aroma felt even fresher, so it would be great for a clean, refreshing summer coffee.
Crisp and chewy ice cream waffle
And then there was Hands Coffee’s popular ice cream waffle!!
The freshly baked, golden waffle came dusted with powdered sugar. That signature waffle texture—crisp outside and chewy within—was a work of art!!
You can choose two gelato ice cream flavors with whipped cream. We chose green tea and strawberry from green tea, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate!! Put the cool, chewy Häagen-Dazs ice cream on a warm piece of waffle and the combination melts beautifully in your mouth.
Haemaji Bridge from the fourth-floor terrace
The café spans the second through fourth floors, so before heading home we went up to the fourth-floor terrace. Perhaps because autumn was beginning, a cool breeze was gently blowing, and enjoying coffee on the terrace sounded so nice. The view of Haemaji Bridge at Dongchon Resort is an extra that really clears your mind!!
If you want to step away from a dull routine and refresh yourself lightly, be sure to visit Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch for its open Dongchon Resort view, fragrant coffee, and sweet desserts.
