SEOUL MULLAE

Lazing around during the holiday, I suddenly wanted to take my partner out on a date, so — Mullae, here we go! Deciding what to eat for a late lunch-slash-early dinner, we headed to the newly opened Mullae hot spot, Yangnam Yanghwa (양남양화).

Where is Yangnam Yanghwa, and what is the restaurant like inside?

Yangnam Yanghwa, a Mullae hot spot, sits in a quiet alley about halfway between Mullae Station and Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. Pretty pretty from the entrance already.

Step inside and you find seating arranged in a round bar layout. This is a charcoal-grill specialty spot where staff grill everything for you. There are partitions here and there along the bar table :D

There's also a small garden-like nook tucked in the back of the restaurant! The restrooms are separated by gender and super clean-♥
How much does Yangnam Yanghwa cost? 38,900 won for 2 hours all-you-can-eat

There's no à la carte menu at Yangnam Yanghwa — instead, each person orders one set menu. For an adult, that's ₩38,900. Within a 2-hour time limit, the lamb is all-you-can-eat. Sides include seafood ramyeon, bibim-myeon (spicy mixed noodles), and garlic rice, and the drink options cover regular soju, Hwayo, beer, and highball, among others.

Worried there might not be a seat, we called ahead, and sure enough, the table was already set up when we arrived :D

From the left: mint jelly, hwasabi, mayo sauce, cumin, salt, pickled radish, and pickled water dropwort with jalapeño.
They also brought out a welcome drink — a sweet lemonade-based pre-meal cocktail.

Lamb shoulder ribs and lamb T-bone, grilled for you by the staff
Yangnam Yanghwa, our Mullae hot spot, serves lamb in two forms: lamb shoulder ribs and lamb T-bone (sirloin + tenderloin). Just gorgeous-looking lamb even before it hits the grill 'w'

Everything gets grilled by the staff, so all you have to do is eat, haha. I love it when meat restaurants offer this kind of grill-it-for-you service these days!
Isn't it cute that this little T-bone has both sirloin and tenderloin attached @_@ this cut here is sirloin. The fat-to-meat ratio is nicely balanced. The meat was soft and delicious.

The cheongyang chili soy sauce is so tasty haha, and the currently trendy mint jelly came out with it too. A lot of people love mint jelly apparently, but... my partner's palate, uh, not so much haha.

Best sides at Yangnam Yanghwa: garlic rice and bibim-myeon
Garlic rice is a must-order whenever you go to a lamb charcoal-grill place. The subtle garlic aroma and just-right seasoning made it so good +_+

Wrapped up with lamb in seaweed (gim), it's so satisfying. This combo is love no matter how many times I eat it haha. Both my partner and I agreed the garlic rice was seriously delicious.

We also ordered a bibim-myeon to share. Cool, spicy-sweet-and-sour bibim-myeon actually pairs really well with the lamb too.
There's a drinks promotion running through August, too! A highball for ₩4,000 — how can you resist?! So of course we had a glass.

Lamb refills and grilled vegetables at Yangnam Yanghwa
We polished off the first round in no time and refilled with a second. You can order the same thing again, or just request the specific cuts you want more of.

After the first round was fully grilled, they grilled us vegetables too — eggplant, mushrooms, pineapple, onion, green onion, and cherry tomatoes. Great to pick at in between bites of lamb.

Haha, we cleaned up the second round pretty thoroughly too. It's been a while since my partner and I got this stuffed on lamb together haha. Thanks to that, all thoughts of a second round elsewhere completely disappeared (..)

We finished it all off with a spicy seafood ramyeon. The end.
Is Yangnam Yanghwa in Mullae worth it? Final verdict
Yangnam Yanghwa, our Mullae hot spot, let us eat all-you-can-eat lamb without any worry. Since there's none of that distinctive lamb smell, even lamb beginners should be able to enjoy it happily :D As for sides, personally I recommend the garlic rice and bibim-myeon! (just my taste) If you're looking for a place for a date, a get-together, or even a business dinner in a comfortable, upscale atmosphere, I'd recommend giving it a visit ♬
