Hanppong is a Korean restaurant in Seo-gu, Daejeon, right next to Dunsan Elementary School. The mountain-pile galbitang (short rib soup) came with four palm-sized ribs plus lean meat, and the milky-broth dogani-tang (beef knee cartilage soup) was packed with chewy cartilage. Galbitang can be packed to go either cooked or uncooked, so the writer even took a portion home for her dad.
Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch is a bakery café in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, a 5-minute walk from Galleria Department Store. The old-world European interior pairs with pollock roe cheese salt bread, financiers, a decaf iced americano and a warm latte, plus a free espresso Albero from a Naver alert coupon. It's usually just a coffee stop, but the desserts were good enough to pack some to go.
