Why we visited Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch, a Korean restaurant near Balsan Station

Today I'm introducing a Balsan Station favorite, the Korean restaurant Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch^ ^ I stopped by before heading to the jewelry fair at Magok Coex.

I've been tired of instant food lately and kept craving Korean home cooking, so this felt perfect. I heard it's also great for meeting-the-in-laws dinners or family gatherings, so I went in with high expectations~~^^

Where to park at Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch

There's a separate parking building right next door, so there's plenty of parking space~~^^

You need to walk a little to the side to see the parking building~ Mikodam is written right in front of it, so make sure you park there haha

The interior is very clean and the seats are all spacious haha, really pleasant and tidy. We came after lunchtime so it looked a bit quiet, but during lunch or dinner hours there might not be a seat available haha

What comes with the Mikodam set for three

The basic side dishes were varied and delicious~ my favorite was the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles)~ We went with a foreign friend haha and they ate it well haha. They really love Korean food and prefer a table set out with this much variety.

There's pork bulgogi too haha. We ordered the set for three. The seasoning wasn't too strong, just right.

Cockles two ways: one soy, one spicy

We chose one soy-flavored cockle and one spicy one~ The soy one was salty but not spicy, so kids would probably like it too. The spicy one had a lot of cabbage in it, and the texture was so good — I've been into cabbage lately and really enjoyed it, ㅠㅠ

Beef jeon wrapped in chives

Beef jeon (pan-fried beef pancake) is great wrapped with chives in the middle. Jeon like this takes quite a bit of effort so you really have to buy it, so having it included in the set menu felt so generous and nice.

The kimchi was tasty and the namul (seasoned vegetable side dishes) were tasty too. It felt kind of like Jeolla-do style cooking. Everything was so delicious it was fun picking through it all^^

Choosing flounder for the seaweed soup

There's beef, flounder, and abalone seaweed soup, and the abalone one costs extra haha. I make beef seaweed soup often at home, so I went with the flounder seaweed soup instead??

Turns out that was a great choice haha! It was so rich and delicious! It looked like a whole flounder was in there. Eating the flounder along with it was ㅠㅠ so, so good.

There's also mackerel pancake, and cockles, beef jeon, japchae, namul, kimchi, seaweed soup ~ that's the full table^^ Looking at these photos makes me want to eat it all again ㅠㅠ A set for three haha, this is proper Korean food right here~~

Is Mikodam good for family gatherings and in-law dinners?

Isn't this such a neat and tidy spread? A Korean table like this is rare these days, and I feel like it really reminded me why Koreans say rice gives you strength. I've heard a lot of Korean set-menu restaurants host meeting-the-in-laws dinners, and I understand this place is known for that too since it has a private room^^

I was already full but somehow finished it all!! If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Balsan Station or a Korean set-menu spot in Magok, you can pick this place without hesitation! The food is neat, tasty, and filling, and there's a lunch special too so you can enjoy it affordably haha

Places with good parking, spacious and pleasant interiors, and that are good for families are rare these days, so if you have a family gathering or a craving for Korean food for lunch or dinner around Balsan Station or Magok, I'd definitely recommend giving this a try haha
