Daeheung burger spot with app-booked parking: Bored & Hungry Mapo

I was craving a really good handmade burger, so I headed to Bored & Hungry Mapo, a burger spot near Daeheung Station that's become quite the hotspot lately!! It brings LA vibes straight from the US and is known as one of the trendiest brands in Korea, so I was hyped even before I got there~~

Where to park at Bored & Hungry Mapo: roadside spots by Gyeongui Line Forest

Bored & Hungry Mapo sits right next to Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so we parked at one of the roadside spots lining the path right in front of the restaurant. There were a few spots open, so we conveniently booked paid parking through the 'Modu Parking' app. It was so much closer than a public lot, which made getting around way easier haha.

The second we got out of the car, the exterior had me gasping lol. The whole building is wrapped in this unique monkey NFT art graphic and slick graffiti, so it genuinely felt like we'd teleported to a street in the US lolol.

I'd heard it's known as the burger brand that won over pop star Snoop Dogg, and honestly the hip energy came through loud and clear just from the outside!

How long is the wait, and how does table ordering by phone work?

When we arrived at Bored & Hungry Mapo, there were 3 parties ahead of us, but turnover was fast so we got seated in under 5 minutes haha. Once we sat down, we noticed every table had an NFC tag and a QR code attached.

Tap your phone and it takes you straight to the order website, which shows cross-section photos of each burger and its ingredients super clearly, so picking a menu item was really easy~ You can also rent out the space if needed, which sounds perfect for group gatherings!

The self-serve corner and unlimited soda refills

Checking out the self-serve corner off to one side of Bored & Hungry Mapo, you could really see the owner's thoughtfulness~ Plates, utensils, forks, knives, napkins, wet wipes, a water dispenser, and even a phone stand — a must-have for solo diners — were all neatly set up haha.

On top of that, once you grab a cup, you can freely refill whichever soda you like from the dispenser, so I stayed refreshed and worry-free the whole meal lolol.

Classic Cheese Double Burger: how juicy is the patty?

Big props to my husband for going with the double on the classic cheeseburger...lol. Can you see how crispy the edges of the patties got?!

On top, the yellow cheese melted down smooth and soft — pure richness at its peak.

One bite in, and rich beef juices came through salty and savory without any greasiness, so it disappeared in no time!

Shrimp Burger: a patty on a whole different level of thickness

I was genuinely shocked, lol, by how the Shrimp Burger looked at Bored & Hungry Mapo. Slicing it in half with a knife, the patty was insanely thick — no comparison to other handmade burger places lolol. The outside was fried crispy and inside was packed with big chunks of whole shrimp meat.

The sweet yet clean special sauce paired fantastically with the shrimp patty, so I ate through the shrimp burger in total awe~

Sides at Bored & Hungry Mapo: corn ribs and corn salad

Each side dish had its own strong presence! The fries were excellent — crispy outside, fluffy inside — and the portion was generous. Dipped in the sweet-savory seasoning with the special mayo sauce that came alongside, that addictive sweet-and-salty combo kept my hand reaching back for more~

Pairing it with the refreshingly sweet, crunchy corn salad in between bites cleansed the palate, so I enjoyed everything right down to the last bite without getting sick of it.

Since we came in late in the evening, by the time we finished eating the crowd had thinned out, so I got to snap some relaxed shots of the stylish seating area haha.

Is Bored & Hungry Mapo worth it? Final verdict

• Graffiti-covered exterior that feels like an overseas burger joint
• There was a wait, but fast turnover got us in within 5 minutes
• Easy ordering via table smartphone tags with menu photos
• Refill drinks as much as you like from the dispenser
• The crispy double patty and cheese were genuinely delicious
• The shrimp patty was surprisingly thick and plump, crispy outside and tender inside
• The corn ribs and corn salad dipped in sweet-savory sauce were a real treat
