Maison Akai Hyehwa is a Japanese-style tonkatsu and pasta restaurant on the 2nd floor along Daemyeong-gil in Daehak-ro, near Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station in Seoul. The writer returned to Maison Akai Hyehwa, where she had once come on a date with her husband, ordered tenderloin katsu, mentaiko cream pasta and Akai Ade, and walked in without a wait by arriving before lunchtime. Maison Akai is good for more than tonkatsu: its rich, creamy mentaiko pasta makes it a strong pick for a Daehak-ro date or blind date.

On a weekday afternoon with her husband, the blogger ordered the signature Andamiro pancake, a grapefruit ade and a café latte. Hyehwa salad shop revisit: chicken wrap & peach kombucha, Sallering

Sallering Daehak-ro (샐러링 대학로점) is a poke, wrap and soup salad shop near Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul. On a lunch revisit after a long gap, the writer's friend had the salmon poke with the recommended sauce, while the writer tried the chicken wrap, corn soup and peach kombucha for the first time, and both meals were so filling that neither could finish. For a solo or diet-friendly lunch in Hyehwa, Sallering Daehak-ro is well worth recommending.

Mild jjukkumi set while pregnant in Cheonan: Bulnaneun Jjukkumi

Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Main Branch (불나는쭈꾸미 본점) is a jjukkumi (baby octopus) restaurant in Baekseok-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. On the way to a movie in Buldang-dong, the pregnant writer stopped in with empty-stomach morning sickness and ordered the jjukkumi, shrimp tempura and rice pot set (17,000 won) at the less-spicy level; the food came out fast and the portions were generous. With a self-serve bar and spacious parking, Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Main Branch is a good-value jjukkumi spot worth recommending.

Daejeon restaurant near the Convention Center, pre-MSI lunch: THE MUA

THE MUA is a pasta and risotto restaurant in an alley of villas in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. A pregnant couple in town for the MSI finals stopped at THE MUA, about 10 minutes by car from the Daejeon Convention Center, and ordered the lobster croquette, shrimp ricotta pomodoro pasta and quattro mushroom gnocchi. The quattro mushroom gnocchi was thick and full of mushroom aroma — good enough to finish on your own, and the dish worth ordering first at THE MUA.
