Why Rustic Smoke House for lunch before Everland?

We stopped at Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch for lunch before going into Everland. We didn't much like the idea of eating lunch inside the park, so we planned to eat outside first. My husband (my other half) loves barbecue, and while looking into options we landed on Rustic Smoke House. It's a barbecue place that works well with a baby, so let me introduce it right away!

Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30-21:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00, and closed on Mondays. The address is 432-3 Hanteo-ro, Yangji-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, South Korea (1st floor; lot-number address: 285 Daedae-ri, Yangji-eup). Parking is available, and there are baby chairs.

This Yangji restaurant near Everland sits in quiet countryside, so the air is fresh and the whole place feels relaxed. The parking area out front was also really roomy.

What is the interior and atmosphere at Rustic Smoke House like?

As a barbecue house should be, it's prettily decorated like a mountain lodge.

It was a bit early for lunch, but quite a few customers had already come for barbecue. The seats filled up fast.

There are big tables in the middle so larger groups can eat together.

There was even a guitar that fits the barbecue mood. You can tell the owner is serious about barbecue.

There were lots of pretty goods on display, and it's a nice spot for photos with a baby. No wonder so many babies come to a barbecue place!

Is Rustic Smoke House good for families with a baby?

I think literally every table had a stroller and a baby chair. That's how baby-friendly it is!!!

What's at the self-serve bar?

The self-serve bar has simple snacks. There were crackers kids would like, and even the tteokbokki-flavored snack I love. With tableware, water, strawberry jam and more, there was nothing missing during the meal.

What's in the couple set, and what we ordered

Today we ordered the Rustic Smoke House couple set. It comes with a BBQ platter or steak platter, pasta or rice, 2 drinks, and a house salad.

We chose the BBQ platter with truffle cream risotto.

The house salad was served first, and it was so good: sweet-and-sour balsamic with plenty of cheese sprinkled on top. When you start getting a little tired of the meat, digging into the salad settles the richness nicely.

The second dish was the truffle cream risotto. It was full of truffle aroma and the rice was cooked just right, so it was good for the baby too.

For babies who can't really eat barbecue yet, I think ordering something like the risotto would go over really well.

I love risotto so much that I think I ate almost all of it myself, haha.

What's in the BBQ platter, and how big is it?

The Rustic Smoke House BBQ platter comes with 4 dinner rolls, pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket and french fries. It looked small at first, but it turned out to be quite a lot as we ate.

Each barbecue item is also sold on its own, but they were all so good that I'd definitely recommend ordering the platter!!

Split a roll in half, spread out some pulled pork, then top with a piece of brisket and coleslaw and brush on the barbecue sauce. That makes a really, really delicious bite.

Do the pork ribs smell gamey?

There was no gamey pork smell at all in the ribs or the barbecue here. At other barbecue places I've sometimes noticed a pork smell breaking through the smoke, but not here, not one bit. The ribs especially are really good.

I was surprised by how good the sauce on them was. They fall off the bone gently and the meat itself is tender, so they were the meat I was happiest with. The brisket wasn't dry either, just soft and tasty.

Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch was the first barbecue place in a while that made me walk out feeling I'd really eaten well. The smoke flavor isn't too strong and the meat is clean with no gamey smell, so I left very happy. The seasoning is right and the baby liked it, so whenever I crave barbecue I'll definitely go back!
