What's the atmosphere like at Modak Texas Barbecue in Palgongsan?

From the entrance, Modak Texas Barbecue Palgongsan Branch feels like you've landed in the American South, just like the name promises. It felt almost like being on a trip, which was a fresh change.

Since it's in Palgongsan, it would fit nicely as a stop on a drive or a date route.

Parking and indoor seating at Modak Texas Barbecue

The parking lot is big too, so a group visit or a get-together shouldn't be a problem!

Inside, the wood-toned decor is grand and full of character, and I couldn't hide my surprise at how large the place is.

The tables run along generously and are spaced widely, so it never felt cramped. There's also a space further in for groups and big families, so it's a good pick if you're looking for a Palgongsan restaurant with room-style seating.

Outdoor seating at dusk and the dog policy

The outdoor area gets even more atmospheric as the sun slowly sets. The lights come on one by one, and it seemed like a lovely spot to spend a relaxed, sentimental evening.

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area, and I saw quite a few people who had come to this dog-friendly Palgongsan restaurant with their pets. *Only dogs under 10kg.

The menu is split broadly into tomahawk sets and barbecue sets, and you can also order à la carte, so there's plenty of choice.

You order easily on a kiosk once you're seated.

What we ordered was the Texas Platter set for two, ₩57,000.

Free nachos, witch's soup and the self-serve bar

Before the main dishes arrived, the complimentary nachos and witch's soup (마녀스프) came out first.

At first glance I couldn't tell what it would taste like, but after one bite I was totally hooked. I'm so curious about the recipe (T_T)

The self-serve bar is set up with salad, nachos and various sauces you can help yourself to, and you can get tortilla refills too.

What comes in the Texas Platter set for two (57,000 won)?

The Texas Platter set for two is a generous spread with three kinds of meat, dinner rolls, salad, several sauces and fries, so you get to taste a bit of everything.

Even looking at it again, it looks so fantastic my mouth waters!

The three meats were brisket (Western-style beef), pulled pork and wings.

All the meat was tender and juicy, and the three had different textures and flavors, so mixing and matching them was part of the fun.

Tortilla wraps and dinner-roll mini burgers with the platter

Pile plenty of meat on a tortilla, add lots of salad and pickles, then dip it in sauce. It's a flavor I'd never had before, yet the combination felt oddly familiar and good, so I kept going back for more.

You can also build mini burgers with the dinner rolls to your own taste, which was fun. Putting in more salad than meat suited my palate better ><

How spicy is the shrimp cream pasta (15,000 won)?

The shrimp cream pasta at Modak Texas Barbecue is ₩15,000, and we ordered the spicy version.

The thick, rich shrimp cream pasta comes with plenty of plump, bouncy shrimp. Since we chose the spicy version, it was creamy but not heavy, and I was happy to finish it all the way through!

Toasting marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit after dinner

After the meal, Modak Texas Barbecue Palgongsan Branch sets you up to roast marshmallows over the outdoor fire pit, so you finish with happy memories. It was the best.

Even my husband, who doesn't like marshmallows, said they were delicious and wolfed them down in no time~ We had a tasty meal in a unique, atmospheric place and made fun memories too.
