Yeonhui-dong dessert café in Seoul with carrot cake: Der Stuhl
In short
Der Stuhl Yeonhui is a second-floor dessert café on Yeonhui-ro 25-gil in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun, Seoul. On a weekday visit with her mom, the writer tried the signature carrot cake (₩9,500), an Einspänner and an apple ginger ade, and the owner personally coming out to help with parking stood out most. With its not-too-sweet carrot cake and quiet atmosphere, Der Stuhl Yeonhui is worth recommending for a Yeonhui-dong date or a family outing.

I was looking for a nice café in Yeonhui-dong to take my mom to on a weekday, and that's how I ended up at Der Stuhl Yeonhui (데스툴 연희). Yeonhui-dong is a neighborhood I often visit for dates because it's so quiet, but this time I'd heard the desserts at Der Stuhl Yeonhui were great, so off I went!

The moody, stylish exterior caught my eye right away, and I walked in full of anticipation~ haha

Is there parking at Der Stuhl Yeonhui?
The parking space in front of Der Stuhl Yeonhui isn't generous, but if you call before visiting, they kindly tell you whether a spot is available right now. This parking service was the most impressive part of my visit.
When we arrived, the owner actually came outside to help us park. I'd never experienced such thoughtfulness, and it really touched me. 😊 It doesn't feel like a place that just serves coffee; you can sense they care about each guest, and I was happy from the very first moment.

What is the atmosphere like at Der Stuhl Yeonhui?
Inside, Der Stuhl Yeonhui feels warm and calm. It's quiet enough for conversation and photographs beautifully, so I think it suits anyone looking for a date spot in Yeonhui-dong.
There were stylish little props here and there, which made wandering around fun, and the cozy mood made me want to stay for a long time.

What we ordered at Der Stuhl Yeonhui and the prices
- Einspänner (coffee topped with cream) ₩6,500
- Apple ginger ade ₩6,500
- Signature carrot cake ₩9,500

While I was looking around, our drinks and cake were ready~! The coaster was so pretty that it caught my eye first, and the plating was lovely too, great for photos. The coffee smelled wonderful and went really well with dessert.

Is the signature carrot cake at Der Stuhl Yeonhui very sweet?
The signature carrot cake (₩9,500) at Der Stuhl Yeonhui has a gentle sweetness, nothing overwhelming. The carrot cake was the main reason for this visit, and since I love carrot cake but tire of it quickly when it's too sweet, I was extra happy.
I kept reaching for another bite, and the balance between the moist sponge and the cream was really good. One bite and I understood why it's the signature. Personally, it was the most satisfying cake I've had recently among Yeonhui-dong desserts. It paired wonderfully with coffee, and I'd want to order it again next time.

How do the Einspänner and apple ginger ade taste?
Einspänner ₩6,500
The cream on the Einspänner at Der Stuhl Yeonhui was really impressive. Soft, rich cream blended well with the coffee and left a clean finish, and it wasn't just sweet: you could properly taste the coffee. The cream and espresso were so well balanced that I enjoyed it comfortably to the last sip.
Apple ginger ade ₩6,500
The apple ginger ade had a fresh apple taste from the first sip, followed by a subtle, charming ginger aroma. The sharp kick typical of ginger wasn't strong, so anyone can drink it easily, and with the fizz added it was really refreshing and clean.

Every drink went really well with the signature carrot cake. The not-too-sweet carrot cake, the nutty cream of the Einspänner and the bright apple ginger ade came together nicely and made the dessert even more enjoyable.
Not only the café's mood but also the quality of the drinks was high, so I'd confidently recommend them to anyone looking for a café in Yeonhui-dong. It was lovely for a relaxed Yeonhui-dong date too, and a satisfying combination with tasty Yeonhui-dong desserts.

Is Der Stuhl Yeonhui worth visiting again?
Der Stuhl Yeonhui satisfied me from service to dessert. In particular, I think I'll remember the kindness of the owner who came out to help us park for a loooong time.
If you're looking for tasty desserts, a café with a nice atmosphere or a date spot in Yeonhui-dong, I confidently recommend it!! If you want a pleasant café and delicious dessert together in Yeonhui-dong, do give Der Stuhl Yeonhui a visit.
