Gojan-dong café in Ansan for non-coffee drinkers: milkshake at Degree
In short
Degree Gojan Branch is a bakery café on a main road in the central Gojan-dong shopping district of Ansan, Gyeonggi. The writer, who can't drink coffee, stopped by on a weekend with her child and ordered taengmoban (Thai-style watermelon juice) and a milkshake; the taengmoban tasted like freshly blended watermelon with no syrupy flavor. A Gojan-dong café I visited with my child on a weekend: Degree Gojan Branch
I'd heard Degree Gojan Branch (디그리 고잔점) was a well-known dessert café in Gojan-dong, Ansan, so I stopped by with my child on a weekend. Every weekend I wonder where to take the kid. This day I had no special plans, just an errand in Ansan, and I went looking for a place to rest for a bit and ended up here.
Gojan-dong has so many good restaurants and cafés that it's hard to choose, but I was curious because of that dessert reputation. It looked good for a cup of coffee and a break, and with so many kinds of bread, it also seemed fine for an Ansan café brunch.
Where is Degree Gojan Branch, and what about parking?

Degree Gojan Branch sits on a main road in the center of the Gojan-dong commercial area, and I heard you can use the parking lot of the building behind it, free for 2 hours per car. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, so it's easy to drop in after a meal, and the location works for an Ansan Gojan-dong date without any fuss. It's on the main road, so even first-timers won't have trouble finding it.
Parking in Gojan-dong can be a real headache, but at Degree it was relatively easy. When you're out with a child, easy parking definitely makes a visit simpler.
Degree Gojan Branch menu and breads

Degree is known for its coffee, so there were lots of coffee options, plus a variety of seasonal drinks beyond coffee. There were plenty of drinks that coffee lovers and non-coffee people alike would enjoy!

At Degree Gojan Branch you can choose from a really wide range of bread: salt bread, croissants, pretzels, jambon-beurre (ham and butter baguette sandwich) and ciabatta. I heard Degree makes its bread fresh every day with French flour and Lescure butter. Every loaf in the display looked delicious, and I spent a good while just browsing.
I was also impressed that the bread comes out several times a day, so you can get it fresh from the oven. If you're looking for an Ansan café brunch spot, I'd love to recommend Degree, with its wide selection of bakery items!
How ordering works at Degree Gojan Branch

When you walk in, you see the bakery display and the ordering area right away. You pick the bread you want first, then order your drinks along with it.

There were lots of coffees and seasonal drinks too, but the watermelon juice, taengmoban (땡모반), really stood out. When I walked in, everyone except two or three people was drinking watermelon juice!

Atmosphere and seating at Degree Gojan Branch
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the big picture windows. There were more trees outside than I expected, so even though it's a city café, it didn't feel stuffy at all. White and wood tones are balanced nicely, giving the whole place a calm mood.

Cozy tables and a bar counter were arranged well. It isn't huge, but the space is used smartly, so I had no complaints. Even while waiting for my drink after ordering, the quiet, comfortable mood let me relax naturally. It was an Ansan café with the kind of cozy vibe that people looking for Gojan-dong café desserts would like!

What does the taengmoban at Degree Gojan Branch taste like?
From the first sip, the taengmoban at Degree Gojan Branch tasted like real watermelon blended as it is. Some places make watermelon juice with a strong syrup taste, but at Degree I could barely taste that artificial sweetness.
The watermelon's coolness and natural sweetness came through, which made it perfect for a hot day. It left my mouth feeling clean, so it also went well with bread.

Can't drink coffee? Try the Degree milkshake
The milkshake at Degree Gojan Branch was even better than I expected. It had a smooth, rich milk flavor, but it wasn't too heavy or chalky. The moderate sweetness made it easy to drink.
Every sip through the straw was cold and smooth, so I thought kids would like it too. I can't drink coffee, and I wanted to try something besides the watermelon juice, so I ordered it, and it was sweet and delicious! Degree is famous for coffee, but it seems like a good choice for people who can't drink coffee too.
Is Degree Gojan Branch worth going back to?
Degree Gojan Branch is an Ansan café where you can enjoy bakery items too, not just a place for coffee. It's good for people looking for Gojan-dong café desserts, and with its variety of bread and drinks, it suits an Ansan café brunch well.
Easy parking and long opening hours made it easy to visit without any pressure. The view of trees through the big windows made it great for spending a relaxed time, and I was happy with how the drinks and bakery went together. It's good for a quick cup of coffee, and also fine for a brunch-style meal with bread. If you're looking for a date spot in Ansan's Gojan-dong, this café is worth a stop at least once!
