Suwon Peking duck restaurant: weekday couple's dinner at Gang's Duck
In short
Gang's Duck is a Peking duck restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon, near City Hall Station, run by hotel-trained chefs. On a booked weekday dinner, a couple ordered half a Peking duck, garlic egg fried rice and black pepper fried pork, plus the fried duck bones served with the duck. The duck skin dipped in salt and sugar and the open-kitchen plating stood out. Portions left a little over for two, so Gang's Duck also suits a family of three.

If you want proper Peking duck in Suwon, Gang's Duck (갱스덕) is the first place I'd recommend.

Gang's Duck is a well-known Chinese restaurant run by hotel-trained chefs, and it's so popular that it had plenty of reservations even on a weekday evening. After visiting in person, I was happy with the food quality and the atmosphere too, so I wanted to introduce it.

Do you need to book Gang's Duck on a weekday evening?
We visited on a weekday evening and the restaurant was already full of customers. Because we had booked ahead, we were seated right away without waiting.

Each table had a welcome card with the name of the person who made the reservation, which made a great first impression.

Gang's Duck interior and open kitchen
Duck ornaments and Chinese-style decor are placed all around the inside, so it felt a bit like being on a trip.

It seemed like a good fit for dates, family gatherings and company dinners. The little ducks dotted around were so cute, haha.

Also, the Peking duck isn't cooked in a back kitchen. You can watch it being cooked in the open kitchen right in the middle of the restaurant.

Watching them plate the Peking duck I'd ordered with such care made me even hungrier.
Gang's Duck menu recommendations for two
Half a Peking duck: how to eat it
If you come to Gang's Duck, the first thing I'd recommend is the half Peking duck.

When you order Peking duck, they give you a cute card explaining how to eat it well.

Following the card, I wrapped the freshly roasted Peking duck in a jeonbyeong (thin wheat pancake) with cucumber and scallion. It wasn't greasy at all, just clean and mild, so I kept eating. When you wrap it, I really recommend dipping it in the yajeong sauce!

In particular, the duck skin laid on top of the Peking duck is great dipped in salt and sugar. It works as an appetizer and really got my appetite going.

Garlic egg fried rice
I always order garlic egg fried rice at Chinese restaurants, and the one at Gang's Duck was the best match for the Peking duck.

A subtle garlic aroma rises up and the flavor is light, so it was good to eat together with the Peking duck.
Black pepper fried pork
The black pepper fried pork at Gang's Duck really suits Korean tastes.

Crispy batter with the aroma of black pepper, and I couldn't stop reaching for it. The chili peppers stir-fried together with it were crispy too and went well with the meat. My husband especially loved it 👍
Do you need to order the fried duck bones separately?
When you order Peking duck at Gang's Duck, fried duck bones come with it. Honestly, they were a treat too, so good T_T

At first I wasn't used to fried duck and assumed it would be the same as the fried chicken I always eat, but it was actually much chewier.

They're fried crispy, so I think they'd be great with beer too, and I personally recommend trying them.
Is the portion enough for two at Gang's Duck?
With half a Peking duck, garlic egg fried rice, black pepper fried pork and the fried duck bones, the portion was generous enough that a little was left over for two people. I think a family of three could eat comfortably too!

Overall verdict
Thanks to the interior that captures the feel of China, I felt like I was on a trip throughout the meal. The food, though, is easy to enjoy and suits Korean tastes well, which made it even more satisfying. If you're looking for a Peking duck restaurant in Suwon, a place to eat in Ingye-dong, or somewhere near Suwon City Hall, I'm confident recommending Gang's Duck as worth a visit.
