Nowon hair salon cowlick bangs fix + volume magic: Yeum Hair

Here's my honest review of the cut, volume magic and bangs hair-flow correction I got from the head stylist at Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch (예움헤어 노원구청점), a hair salon in Nowon!

This is a photo taken right after, haha. Thanks to the stylist I think I finally found the hair of my life, I'm tearing up!

Where is Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch?

Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch is a 5–7 minute walk from Nowon Station, right near Nowon District Office. This Nowon hair salon is a 5–7 minute walk from Nowon Station, and it's really close to the district office.

It's on the floor right above Starbucks, and the shop was super clean and pleasant~

With the white-toned interior and lush green trees outside the window, it felt like a café and I got a little excited, haha.

How were the waiting area and service?

Yeum Hair has a well-equipped waiting area with Wi-Fi, phone stands and even charging cables. I could wait comfortably when I arrived before my appointment, and of course there's Wi-Fi, plus phone stands and charging cables, haha.

You can get a discount if you sign up for a membership, so keep that in mind!^^ What struck me most at this Nowon salon was how organized and incredibly kind everyone is..

I arrived a bit early, and they brought me a drink and snacks, and when I finished the drink they refilled it without me saying anything~ I felt like a VIP.. I was so comfortable.

What was the consultation and cut like with the head stylist?

The head stylist who did my hair had a gentle consultation and a really delicate cutting hand. He's very stylish and has tattoos on his arm, so I was a teeny bit nervous, but once we started talking in the consultation he was so gentle and kind, haha.

He was really, truly delicate while cutting and gave great style recommendations, which I loved! I guess people who do men's hair a lot really do have a delicate cutting hand.

What was my hair like before the treatment?

Before the treatment, my perm had been thinned out a lot, so I couldn't wear it down without blow-drying, and I always tied my hair back because of my curly bangs. After the perm and cut thinned it so much, it was hard to leave it down without drying it, ugh.

I was lazily tying it up in a quick ponytail for work.. and I'm so sick of these curly bangs, ugh.

I got a cut right before a trip, and since it's a hot country and my hair came loose quickly even when I couldn't blow-dry it, I mostly kept it tied back^^;

Why add bangs hair-flow correction and a side root volume perm to volume magic?

After shampooing and checking my hair, the stylist suggested adding bangs hair-flow correction, and when I said I hate flat, drooping volume, he added a root volume perm on the inside of the sides. After washing my hair he looked at it and said bangs hair-flow correction should go in too, and when I said I just didn't want limp, flat hair,

he also did a root volume perm on the inside of the sides! Wow, the bangs hair-flow correction and side root volume perm were such a masterstroke,,

Personally, I think men's hair needs an even more delicate touch than women's, because the cut shows up more, don't you think?

Maybe because he does so much men's hair, he pinpointed exactly what I was worried about and worked on it so carefully that I liked the result way more, haha.

How long did volume magic take on thick hair?

For thick hair, the cut, volume magic, hair-flow correction and root volume perm took about 2.5 hours in total. My hair is so thick that it always takes forever, so I told my husband I'd be late today.. and when it was all done about 2.5 hours had passed.

An assistant helped too, and she was also super kind. The two of them teamed up and gave me close, careful attention so nothing dragged on, and I think that's why my hair came out cleaner and better, with no damage!

Did the volume magic stick to my face?

Even right after the treatment, the volume magic at Yeum Hair didn't cling to my face, so my face actually looked smaller. Usually, soon after volume magic or straight perms, the hair clings to my face and I look like I have a huge face and look ugly..haha This time my face really looks smaller afterwards and I love it~

He carefully handled my problem bangs with hair-flow correction while keeping the root volume alive, so it covers my face shape and the thinned-out thick hair feels so much lighter, haha.

I also loved that after the neutralizing step and rinse, he applied a care product twice to finish with as little damage as possible~

Finishing cut after the magic

He did more cutting after the straightening, and it turned out so chic and pretty, right? haha The ends at the back looked messy after the magic, and he tidied those up too, so it's much neater^^

I left it entirely to the head stylist.. he's someone you can truly trust, and I totally recommend the head stylist at this Nowon salon, Yeum Hair~~!

With the bangs hair-flow correction and side volume perm, my face shape is complemented while the lower part stays light and easy to manage, haha. Totally satisfied!! The bangs hardly split now with the hair-flow correction, so good,, the best~
