After work on a weekday, I stopped by Pip Espresso Bar (피프에스프레소바), a café full of charm near the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Yeonnam-dong.

Where is Pip Espresso Bar and what are its hours?

Pip Espresso Bar is at 5 Seongmisan-ro 29-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, about a 10-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station :) It's open daily from 09:00 to 23:00, so it's easy to drop by after work.

Exterior and terrace atmosphere at Pip in Yeonnam-dong

Pip uses the ground floor of a charming detached house. The exterior blends in with Yeonnam-dong's alley atmosphere and caught my eye, and the cute, cozy feel starts right at the entrance.

On a nice day you can relax with a coffee on the terrace seats, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a terrace café in Yeonnam-dong.

What is the interior of Pip like?

Step inside and stylish decor and little props are placed everywhere, so just looking around is fun :)

Warm wood tones, a modern feel and soft lighting come together to create a comfortable mood :)

Pip's own ideas show up all around the space, so it's great for photos, and the space is large and well divided, making it a nice spot for meeting friends or a date 🤭

Pip Espresso Bar menu

The menu reminded me of the cafés I stopped at on my trip to Italy! Granita, Aperol, Peroni, haha. There's a range of espresso and coffee drinks as well as non-coffee drinks, so you can choose to suit your taste 💚

What does the Granita Berry taste like?

Granita Berry is Pip's signature: frozen espresso granita served with tangy raspberry sorbet. Strong espresso and sweet-tart raspberry went together much better than I expected.

Our orders have arrived! This is the Granita Berry I ordered ❤️ It comes with frozen espresso granita and tangy raspberry sorbet.

The rich espresso flavor and the sweet-tart raspberry really did go well together 😆 I thought it was an unfamiliar combination at first, but after one bite I understood why it's the signature :)

It's a dessert-like coffee that's great on a hot day ;)

How is the americano at Pip Espresso Bar?

The americano wasn't overly acidic and had a clean, nice balance. It's a good basic drink to have with tiramisu.

I also ordered the basic americano. It's a perfect match with the tiramisu dessert.

I'll admit it's a great coffee spot in Yeonnam-dong. A café with solid fundamentals 👍

Should you order the tiramisu at Pip too?

If you visit Pip, I highly recommend ordering the tiramisu too!!! The cream was smooth and not overly sweet, so it paired well with coffee.

The soft cream and moist sponge blended harmoniously, and it wasn't too sweet, so it went well with coffee :)

Overall verdict on Pip in Yeonnam-dong

Pip Espresso Bar gave me a charming space, tasty coffee and a variety of desserts. If you're looking for a café with great atmosphere in Yeonnam-dong, I really recommend it!! I was especially satisfied with the signature granita and the tiramisu, and next time I'd like to bring my doggo and spend a relaxed time on the terrace.
