It's been so hot lately that I found myself craving something light, and Mexican food came to mind, so I visited Taco Dot, a Mangwon favorite. Run by one of Korea's first-generation Mexican food chefs with 15 years of experience, this is a Mangwon Market spot where you can taste something genuinely Mexican +_+ Great value and generous portions made it a place I personally loved.

What is Taco Dot Mangwon Market Main Branch like inside?

The exotically decorated entrance of Taco Dot

The interior was decorated in a really exotic style — it felt like a slice of the US, with a photogenic vibe that got me even more excited.

With its sleek color palette, stylish props, and trendy lighting all coming together, the space made me want tacos immediately haha. We came on a weekend and there was a bit of a wait around lunchtime, but since it's a fast-turnover kind of food, I don't think you'd have to wait if you avoid the lunch rush haha.

The menu at this Mangwon favorite was really varied!

  • Grilled Meat Fajita Platter — premium grilled meats with a smoky char, plump shrimp, and roasted vegetables you wrap to your taste — Taco Dot's showstopping signature main dish
  • Taco — a classic taco made with carefully chosen fresh ingredients and homemade salsa, hitting the perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and clean flavor
  • Chimichanga — a fully packed burrito fried crispy and topped with Taco Dot's special sauce, the definition of crunchy outside, juicy inside
  • Enchilada — a refined Mexican dish fresh from the oven, prized for its soft texture and the deep, rich flavor of the sauce

Since there were three of us, we ordered two dishes: the grilled meat fajita platter and mango shrimp tacos haha.

Zero-sugar cola on the table at Taco Dot

Mexican food and zero-sugar cola are a perfect match, so we ordered that too hahaha.

Grilled meat fajita platter: enough for three?

Generous serving of the grilled meat fajita platter

The platter portion was seriously huge — even though it's listed for two, it was plenty for three, especially if some of you have smaller appetites. And since tortillas and homemade sauces are unlimited with a platter order, we could eat freely without worrying about running out!!

Platter served with tortillas and homemade sauces

The grilled meat fajita platter comes generously loaded with pork neck, jerk chicken, shrimp, carnitas, tortillas, coleslaw, four sauces, and cilantro!!

Plate with pork neck, jerk chicken, and carnitas

Personally, it was delicious wrapped in the tortillas, and just as good eaten as meat alone.

Wrapping meat in a tortilla
Tortilla topped with shrimp and sauce

The meat and shrimp are seasoned a bit strongly, so wrapping them in a tortilla with sauce balanced it out perfectly haha. I personally loved adding shrimp in — it boosted the umami and was just so, so good.

A lot of taco places these days have bland meat or a limited selection, but Taco Dot really felt committed to its ingredients, which I loved.

Mango shrimp tacos and takeout for Mangwon Hangang Park

The additionally ordered mango shrimp tacos

We also ordered mango shrimp tacos because we wanted more shrimp. Mexican food and mango really do go so well together.

Mango shrimp tacos topped with tomato salsa and sour cream

The combination of tomato salsa and sour cream was genuinely delicious, and it wasn't as heavy as the meat, so I really enjoyed eating it. Every menu item can be packed neatly to go, so this would be perfect picnic food for a trip to the nearby Hangang Park!!! Once the weather warms up, I'm definitely picking some up for a picnic at Mangwon Hangang Park hahaha.
