Rainy-day pork soup for gukbap beginners at Busan Station: Yeongdong
In short
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is a milmyeon (wheat noodle) and dwaeji gukbap (pork and rice soup) restaurant in Dong-gu, Busan, about 300 meters from Exit 6 of Busan Station. On a rainy day a couple ordered only dwaeji gukbap: the writer, who rarely eats pork soup because of its gamey smell, enjoyed the clear, clean broth loaded with chives and salted shrimp, and her husband drank every last drop of the broth. Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is a safe pick for pork soup beginners worried about the smell and for travelers who want a solo meal before their train.

Today I visited Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch (영동밀면&돼지국밥 부산역사점), a pork soup spot that handles both the start and the end of a Busan trip!

There are a few soul foods you absolutely must eat when you come to Busan, right? And number one is definitely pork soup, haha. Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is right in front of Busan Station, so whether you have a little time before your train or you're starving the moment you arrive, the location and access are really the best.

How close is Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap to Busan Station?
The restaurant is at 7-8 Jungang-daero 214beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan, 300 meters from Busan Station Exit 6! The route before catching the KTX (high-speed train) is perfect, so it's an ideal spot for travelers.

Is this Busan Station pork soup restaurant OK for eating alone?
There were lots of travelers, business-trip office workers and people dining solo, so it felt easy to walk in. There are window seats too, and I'm normally really bad at eating alone, but I could see myself coming here by myself > <

The interior is spacious and the tables are spaced well, so keeping a suitcase next to you while eating was no problem. Being near Busan Station, I saw plenty of travelers. The whole place was spotless! Table turnover is fast too, so we didn't have to wait long, which I loved. I was sooo hungry, you see...

Baby chairs and aprons are available
There are baby chairs, so coming with a stroller and a baby looks fine. If you're getting the bibim milmyeon, an apron is a must!

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap menu and what we ordered
The menu had dwaeji gukbap (pork soup with rice), sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup), suyuk baekban (boiled pork set), suyuk (boiled pork slices), mul milmyeon (cold noodles in broth), bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and handmade mandu (dumplings).
Our pick today! We came to a Busan Station pork soup restaurant, so we went head-on with just dwaeji gukbap! Between the name and everything, both milmyeon and gukbap seem like signatures, but it was rainy and we craved a hot, deep broth, so we dug into the pork soup only. 🤤

Side dishes: kimchi and kkakdugi, peppers and ssamjang
Kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) make or break gukbap, and the ones served here were crunchy and refreshing, cutting right through the richness of the soup. A gukbap place really has to have good kimchi to be the real deal! Dip the mild peppers in ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and crunch away, and your whole mouth feels fresh~~

Can a beginner who worries about the gamey smell eat Busan Station pork soup?
The pork soup here had a clean, deep flavor. When it first arrived it looked milky and clear, and on the first spoonful I was amazed that there was absolutely zero gamey smell.
Honestly, I think I've had pork soup fewer than five times in my whole life.. and that was because of the smell :( But what do you know, I enjoyed it so much here today, haha. If you're a beginner hesitating because of that funky pork-soup smell like me, this clean flavor makes it very easy to get started!!

A earthenware bowl full of thin, tender pork
So much meat it's overflowing! I stirred it with my spoon and the bowl was packed with thinly sliced, soft pork~ It wasn't dry at all but tender, and with a little salted shrimp on top and a generous handful of chives, it was simply heavenly...❤️

The broth was truly clean and mild, so I never got tired of it and kept eating. My husband drank it all up like he was washing the bowl..
Season to taste with chives and salted shrimp
The side dishes that came with it were satisfying too. You can add salted shrimp and chives to taste, so I put in lots of chives and seasoned a bit more with the salted shrimp, and the flavor came alive so much more. Then I put the warm rice into the soup, and it felt really filling down to my core. I feel like my tastes are turning into an old man's..
Who is Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch for?
When you don't have time to go far but want to really taste Busan, pork soup near Busan Station is a safe choice that won't let you down > < Most Koreans like it, so it's not divisive, and with fast turnover it's no pressure at all for eating alone! Next time I want to try the milmyeon that's also in the name. If you're looking for a hearty, warm bowl of gukbap near Busan Station, I recommend it! 👍
