Gyeongju Korean restaurant for two: bulgogi and acorn jelly, Neulbom
In short
Neulbom is a Korean restaurant on Bobul-ro in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, between Bomun Tourist Complex and Bulguksa Temple. Two of us ordered beef bulgogi for two and dotorimuk (acorn jelly), which came with a self-serve ssam (lettuce wrap) bar and neat side dishes for a generous spread. The bulgogi portion at Neulbom was a little small, but the side dishes and value for money made it a very satisfying meal.

Where is Neulbom
Neulbom is a Korean restaurant at 107 Bobul-ro in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, conveniently located between the Bomun Tourist Complex and Bulguksa. While traveling around Gyeongju and wondering where to have lunch, this was the place that came up — and it fit right into the itinerary. It's open 09:00 - 21:00, and parking is available.

It's a well-known name among Gyeongju Bomun-danji restaurant recommendations, so expectations were high going in, and the exterior alone gave off the vibe of a Korean restaurant that's been running for a long time. There's a spacious dedicated parking lot, making it easy for families arriving by car to visit — and roadside parking was possible too! It was also easy to find on Naver Place, so getting there wasn't a hassle.
Weekend lunch waits and the indoor atmosphere
The interior at Neulbom was clean and spacious, making for a comfortable meal, and even though it was packed for weekend lunch, tables turned over quickly so the wait wasn't long. Not just travelers but plenty of local residents were eating there too — turns out it's a favorite among Gyeongju locals :)

There was a self-bar set up so you could load up on fresh ssam vegetables as much as you liked!
Menu and the order for two

Neulbom's signature dishes are the Ureong Sotbap Jeongsik (snail pot rice set) and beef bulgogi, and apparently the acorn jelly, kimchi pancake and seafood pancake are also popular. We came as a pair and ordered two servings of beef bulgogi and the acorn jelly.

First came a neat spread of various side dishes — being a Korean restaurant that makes its own meju (fermented soybean blocks) all the way to the finished sauces, every single side dish had a deep flavor without being overly strong! Everything used healthy ingredients, true to a well-regarded Gyeongju Korean restaurant, and the whole spread was easy to enjoy — it felt like getting a proper taste of Gyeongju Korean food during the trip ❤️

How was the acorn jelly
Neulbom's acorn jelly (dotorimuk) turned out better than expected! It had that springy, chewy texture you'd get from something homemade, and the more you chewed, the more the nutty, mellow flavor of acorn came through. The mild seasoning and crunchy vegetables worked together for a clean, refreshing bite, and eating it alongside the bulgogi cleared the palate nicely. The portion was generous enough to share, and honestly it was just as memorable as the main dish.

Bulgogi: taste, portion, and an honest review
The beef bulgogi we ordered as the main dish had a sweet-savory sauce that soaked well into the meat, perfect with white rice. The meat was tender rather than tough, so it was easy for anyone to enjoy, and the seasoning wasn't overly strong, so it didn't get tiring even by the end. Eaten with rice, the mild bulgogi aroma and the nutty flavor of the rice went really well together, making for a satisfying meal.
Honestly speaking... looking just at the portion of the bulgogi, it felt a little on the small side, but the array of neatly served side dishes made up for that haha. Especially the kimchi pancake and the fresh herb side dishes made with good ingredients — every one of them had that homemade touch, and my chopsticks kept going back naturally..! That snail doenjang stew in the stone pot... I want to eat it again ㅠ_ㅠ haha. Each dish felt prepared with care, so overall it felt like being treated to a really hearty spread, and the value for the price was quite good. The combination of the main dish and side dishes was great — pretty satisfying overall!

Wrapping it all up in one big ssam the way I like it was so, so delicious and made me so happy~~ This is what travel is all about! haha
Who would this suit
If you're after a hearty Korean meal, Neulbom is a satisfying Gyeongju Korean restaurant, and it also struck me as an easygoing option for a Gyeongju date restaurant.
