Changing just your hairstyle can change your whole vibe and your mood, right? I wanted a change of pace, a bit more volume and a new style, so I visited Momentium (모멘티움), a hair salon in Manchon-dong, Daegu.

Plenty of places have a price list once you're inside, but not many let you see it from the street. It may be a small thing, but I personally love this haha

How did the men's perm turn out at Momentium?

Result first: the before and after is obvious, right? It's exactly the curl I wanted, and I'm very happy. 100% coming back!!

Next to the rest area inside Momentium, there were snacks, coffee and a variety of teas. Beyond that, it was a day when I really got to experience(?) the perks of a one-chair salon, which have a different charm from franchise salons.

Neighbors, have you ever worn a cape like this?! haha It was my first time with a cape that has a rubber-like material around the neck, and it felt so comfortable when the stylist wrapped it around me.

At Momentium I got a perm plus a cut. My hair was fairly long, so the stylist set the design with a cut first and then started the perm. I liked the perm result, but above all the time in the chair was comfortable. We chatted about this and that, so there was no boredom and the time really flew by.

With snacks, coffee and my phone, I waited for the perm to finish, silently chanting "hair, get pretty!" haha

How was Momentium's massage shampoo chair?

Momentium's shampoo room has a massage shampoo chair, so the shampoo was a big highlight! I'd never worn a cape with a rubber neckband at a salon before, and I'd never been to a salon with a massage chair in the shampoo room either. They led me to the shampoo room and there it was, a massage shampoo chair, ta-da!

Honestly, massage chairs often feel too strong to me and don't feel good, so I usually skip them even when they're there. But this one's intensity was just right for me. Lying in a shampoo chair more comfortable than a bed, getting a massage along with a scalp massage and shampoo, I felt my body loosen up. It felt like a healing session, so it really stuck in my memory.

Men's regular perm + down perm: how easy is the styling?

The best thing about the perm I got at Momentium is that it needs no special styling: after shampooing, towel-dry it roughly, apply product, and you're done. Done!~ Styling is so easy now that my getting-ready time has dropped, and I'm very happy about it.

Before, my hair had almost no curl and the sides naturally stuck out, but after the regular perm and down perm together, the overall line looks much neater. In particular, I didn't blow-dry at all, just dried it off and lightly applied styling product, and the curls still came back naturally. I'm patting myself on the back for a great choice haha

I usually don't like styles that take a lot of work, so this is exactly the "styled but not styled" natural look I wanted! I've kept it up happily in my daily life for several days after the perm.

Honestly, a men's perm can feel like too much if the curl is too strong, but Momentium gave me natural volume that isn't overdone, which I think made for a much cleaner, softer impression.

Momentium is a reservation-only, one-chair salon, so it felt quiet and comfortable from the moment I walked in. Instead of a busy room full of customers, it was a space focused on caring for one person at a time. I chatted naturally with the stylist about what I wanted and about this and that, and could relax through the whole service.

I liked the result, but even the time spent getting it done felt good. It was a salon visit that felt comfortable for the first time in a while.
