Daegu pasta restaurant in Dongseong-ro: cream & jjamppong pasta, Dana

Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is a casual, two-level Western restaurant in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, near Banwoldang Station. The writer ordered the Cheongyang chili bacon truffle cream pasta, the Shanghai jjamppong pasta (inspired by Korean-Chinese spicy seafood noodle soup) and a half-and-half pepperoni and margherita pizza, enjoying the rich cream, the kick of Cheongyang chili and the spicy jjamppong broth. With reasonable prices and care over ingredients like a house-simmered tomato sauce, Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is a solid pick for a date or blind-date meal.

Milyang Chinese restaurant, husband's favorite jjamppong: Milyang Dol

Milyang Dol Jjamppong (밀양돌짬뽕) is a Chinese restaurant on Baengmin-ro in Milyang, near Yeongnamnu and Milyang City Hall, known for scorched-rice jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jjajang (black bean noodles) cooked on a stone plate heated to about 250°C. After a weekend lunch rush, the writer finally tried the Milyang Dol Jjamppong her husband had raved about, ordering stone jjamppong for 2 and the dontang & chitang (pork and chicken sweet-and-sour) set, and enjoyed the refreshing, seafood-rich broth down to the crispy scorched rice left on the stone plate. With unlimited free rice and self-serve desserts, Milyang Dol Jjamppong is a filling family meal worth recommending.

Andeok, Jeju tea house for couples: window-seat hojicha at Egatot

Egatot Library is a bookshop and tea house on Byeongak-ro in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju, a premium wellness space where guests brew their own tea while looking out at nature and reading curated books. On a wedding anniversary trip to Jeju, the writer and her husband had a guided tea lesson at Egatot Library, then each enjoyed hojicha and tangerine-hued sweets at a single window tea seat while reading their own books. Egatot Library's tea ceremony is easy to follow even for first-timers, making it a recommended stop for anyone wanting quiet, restful time in Jeju.
