Despite body aches and no appetite, the writer finished a whole bowl of the thick loach soup. A couple arrived around 8:10 pm on a Monday and ordered the top-selling boiled pork and sanghwang loach soup set (₩14,000 per person), enjoying the sanghwang mushroom tea served instead of water, the tender boiled pork and the thick Namwon-style loach soup. Ilpum Irojeong is a good pick for a restorative meal that's easy on the stomach in Milyang, especially when taking your parents.

Milyang Dol Jjamppong (밀양돌짬뽕) is a Chinese restaurant in Milyang, Gyeongnam, near Yeongnamnu Pavilion and roughly opposite Milyang City Hall, specializing in stone-pot jjajang (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Four of us joined the queue through the Tabling app, ordered 2 servings each of stone jjajang and stone jjamppong, ate them with green onion kimchi from the self-serve bar, and mixed rice into the leftover sauce. Queue ahead on the Tabling app and grab the self-serve green onion kimchi and rice: that combination made Milyang Dol Jjamppong the most satisfying Chinese restaurant in Milyang.

Dotdot Milyang Main Branch is a newly opened Korean BBQ restaurant for pork belly and special pork cuts on the Sinsamun-dong restaurant street in Samun-dong, Milyang, Gyeongnam. The writer came with a child and ordered 3 servings of fresh ogyeopsal (skin-on pork belly), plus kimchi-mari cold noodles, a cheese and pollock roe steamed egg, and grill-your-own cheese. The meat had no gamey smell, the owner let the kids try the toy draw, and a children's park sits right in front of Dotdot Milyang Main Branch. Verdict: Dotdot Milyang Main Branch is a great Milyang BBQ spot for dinner with kids followed by playground time.

On a suddenly cold day, the writer had a late lunch of the boiled pork and grilled mackerel sanghwang loach soup set with her husband and child, and Ilpum Irojeong's thoughtful touches stood out: sanghwang mushroom water, turmeric rice, a self-serve side dish bar and sweet pumpkin sikhye (rice punch). Verdict: a restorative meal worth a return visit to Milyang, so good she regretted forgetting to order loach soup to go.

Milyang Dol Jjamppong (밀양돌짬뽕) is a Chinese restaurant near Yeongnamnu Pavilion and Milyang City Hall in Milyang, Gyeongnam, specializing in jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jjajang (black bean noodles) served on a sizzling stone plate with nurungji (scorched rice). Loach soup restaurant in Milyang after renovation: Ilpum Irojeong

Ilpum Irojeong is a Namwon-style loach soup (chueotang) restaurant on the ground floor of the Milyang Cinema building in Naei-dong, Milyang, Gyeongnam. After a first visit in August following last year's renovation, the writer returned for Sunday lunch with a child and ordered the warm boiled pork sanghwang loach set for 2 (14,000 won per person), a handmade fresh pork loin cutlet and a seafood pancake with a whole octopus. The food quality at Ilpum Irojeong was unchanged, and the dishes came out faster with quicker staff service. Apart from wishing the dried radish greens were cooked a little softer, Ilpum Irojeong is worth recommending for family gatherings and lunch.
