A friend of mine who lives in Chilgok recommended this place so enthusiastically that I had to check out this noodle restaurant near Daegu Health College. She talked it up so much that I was already excited before I even walked in, haha.

Where is Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae and how do you get there?
Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae is on the 1st floor of the commercial building at 18 Yeongsong-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, South Korea, just a 2-minute walk from Daegu Health College's Indang Hall, so it's very accessible. It's easy to find too, right next to Myeontamjeong and The Liter, along the same row as Mega Coffee. Being near a college campus, there were tons of student customers.
What's on the menu at Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae
Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae really has a huge menu. Ramen and pho are the basics, but they also have soba, rice bowls, and katsu!

I got stuck in a happy dilemma over what to order — places like this always make you more curious!

Turns out it's even been featured on the show Jeongwaja (전과자).

They had plenty of signature dishes — from tonkotsu ramen, which sells over 2,000 bowls a month, to a Korean-style mazesoba, house-made sirloin katsu, and a giant buta-don (pork rice bowl). Seasonal menu items included cool cold soba and shabu pho.
Inside Myeonsikdang: the self-serve bar and eating alone

The interior of Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae was clean and pleasant.

Plenty of window seats too, which looked great for eating solo.

The self-serve bar was well stocked too, with water, kimchi, pickled radish, and broth all free to help yourself.

Since you can add as much as you want to the broth yourself, I loaded mine up — great for warming up your stomach. The owner clearly cares a lot about cleanliness, since the open kitchen was kept spotless. They say they thoroughly check the best ingredients delivered daily, so you can trust what you're eating.
A free drink while you wait at Myeonsikdang

Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae is apparently so popular that over 93% of visits since opening have involved a wait. Waiting usually tests my patience, but hearing that they serve drinks to waiting customers really touched me — you can tell they value their guests!!
What does the mala shabu pho taste like?
We ordered mala shabu pho, premium tonkotsu ramen, and karaage chicken.

The mala shabu pho arrived first, and the presentation was insane!

I took one bite and was genuinely shocked. It was as delicious as anything from a dedicated pho specialty restaurant!

The spicy yet refreshing broth, tender shabu-shabu meat, crunchy bean sprouts, and onion all came together fantastically. The noodles were chewy too, so I inhaled it — polished off the broth completely.

Taking a bite with the noodles, meat, and onion all together is truly the best. It tasted even better with a little tangy sauce on top. Totally my type.
Premium tonkotsu ramen with 3 slices of chashu and 3 halves of soft-boiled egg
Next up, the premium tonkotsu ramen!

This one's presentation was insane too, right?? Big chunks of chashu and soft-boiled egg piled on generously.

The premium tonkotsu ramen came with a whopping 3 halves of soft-boiled egg, and 3 pieces of chashu, so it really felt generous. The rich pork broth was savory with deep flavor, and the noodles were nice and chewy — truly delicious.

Look how gorgeous that soft-boiled egg yolk is? The soft-boiled egg is actually my favorite part of ramen. So moist and soft it melts in your mouth.
The chashu was tender and salty too, and it paired really well with the ramen.
The side order: karaage boneless fried chicken

The karaage chicken was crispy and savory, and went perfectly alongside the main dishes.

Dipped in the sweet chili sauce, it was even better.
Is Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae worth a visit?
Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae was genuinely the best in both value and taste. If you're near Daegu Health College looking for a good solo-dining spot or an affordable ramen or pho restaurant, I highly recommend Myeonsikdang Daegu Bogeondae!

If you're coming as a group, Naver reservations are a good idea, but walk-ins without reservations are fine too, so feel free to just drop by. Daegu Health College students and Chilgok residents, definitely give Myeonsikdang a try. You won't regret it! Haha
