Baby supplement mixed into weaning food: Grow Lab Genius New

Ever since Nani was born, I’ve searched for various baby supplements and been diligently giving them to her. The absolute basic is probiotics first, but recently I’d been hearing that it’s really good to give babies brain-ingredient supplements from an early age—and then I got lucky enough to receive this one as a sponsored product!

What kind of baby supplement is Genius New?

Genius New is a baby brain-ingredient supplement sold by Grow Lab! You may or may not remember the Grow New calcium and magnesium supplement I reviewed before, but it’s from the same brand, and they also sell the two as a set!

How to add it to weaning food with the dropper

The box is super cute! With Genius New, you use a dropper to add it to the food your baby eats, then serve it. Whenever I give my baby something for the first time, I always taste it first, and Genius New tastes nutty! Kind of like sesame oil...? It’s a taste that both kids and adults can have without any resistance.

Genius New ingredients

Genius New contains vegetable rosehip oil / perilla-purslane mixed extract / DHA / ALA / phospholipids / phosphatidylcholine / L-serine. They say L-serine is an amino acid that plays an important role not only in the brain but also in nervous-system function! Aren’t DHA and ALA familiar? Yep, those are omega-3 ingredients!

We all know omega-3 is said to be really good for the brain, right? Those ingredients are packed into this tiny Genius New! They say babies should consistently take DHA and ALA from before age one, when their brains grow rapidly (at least through 24 months), but intake in Korea is reportedly markedly lower than among babies in the U.S. or Europe. Apparently it is 14–16% below the amount recommended by international organizations such as the WHO, which is pretty shocking... yikes.

Shelf life and storage

The shelf life is about one year—long if you think it’s long, short if you think it’s short. They say it’s best to take supplements as soon as possible after buying them, so I recommend purchasing them regularly as needed!

When you buy the Genius New brain-ingredient supplement, it comes with this tool for removing the inner stopper from the bottle, so you can remove it with one hand! Other supplement brands don’t give you a separate tool like that, so you have to strain and hurt your nails getting it out. How sweet is Grow Lab?

This is what it looks like once the dropper is attached! Genius New should be kept in a cool place away from sunlight, but it can also be refrigerated, so I recommend storing it in the fridge!

The daily amount I gave Nani

It’s about this small! Genius New fits right into one of Nani’s hands. They say the serving amount is one dropper twice a day! Nani has weaning food twice, morning and afternoon, so I add one dropper to each meal so our Nani gets the right amount!

My cute baby. Since adding Genius New, the baby supplements she is taking are probiotics, omega-3, and probiotics. They say she should take calcium and vitamin D too... At that point she’ll probably be taking more than I do... I may not take them, but you’d better eat yours well, little one.

A taste-sensitive baby’s reaction

Nani has experienced so many flavors that she is quick to spit out anything that tastes even a little off, but she gulps Genius New down and really likes it. (What a relief!)

In my case, I’ve given Nani all of Grow Lab’s products, and she eats them so well without refusing them that I’m giving them to her diligently!
