Magok Korean BBQ with draft beer and seasoned brisket: Chadol Grill
In short
Chadol Grill Magok (차돌그릴 마곡) is a Korean BBQ restaurant serving seasoned beef brisket and draft beer on the ground floor of GMG Tower near Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. On a heatwave evening, a couple ordered 2 portions of seasoned brisket ribs (19,000 won per portion) with Hanmac draft beer. The ribs come piled with scallions and garlic and are grilled over charcoal, which makes them great wrapped with rice. With side dishes like mustard leaf kimchi, white kimchi and myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), Chadol Grill Magok is a solid dinner pick near Magok and Balsan stations.

Today we visited Chadol Grill Magok (차돌그릴 마곡), a great spot for seasoned brisket and draft beer near Magok Station.

My husband and I have been to Chadol Grill Magok a few times already for daytime drinking, so we knew the taste and went in licking our lips in anticipation.
Seasoned brisket at Chadol Grill Magok: the verdict first
- The seasoned brisket comes topped with garlic, scallions and more, so it is good wrapped with rice like yakiniku (Japanese-style grilled meat).
- Mustard leaf kimchi, white kimchi and the other sides go well with the brisket.
Where is Chadol Grill Magok and when is it open?
The address is Unit 123, GMG Tower, 16 Magokjungang 6-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is open daily from 15:00 to 23:00.
Exterior and interior: open-air seating with folding doors

"Exterior" The exterior looks a little flashy, right? Haha. Unless it's a terribly hot day, those folding doors are open, so you get an open-air feel for daytime drinking too! We've already done daytime drinking at Chadol Grill several times, haha.

"Interior" The first things that catch your eye as you walk in are the aging fridge and the draft beer machine, hahaha. (There were quite a few customers inside, so taking photos was a bit awkward, haha.) We used to love that they served Tiger draft beer, sadly, but they now only do Hanmac draft beer.. (Hanmac draft is good too.)
What we ordered: seasoned brisket ribs for 2 and Hanmac draft beer
We ordered 2 portions of seasoned brisket ribs (₩19,000 per portion) and Hanmac draft beer. The seasoned brisket ribs are what we order every time we visit Chadol Grill.

Great look, right? It tasted just as good. Plenty of scallions and garlic are piled on top of the brisket, and they cut the greasiness of the meat nicely.

First of all, the charcoal fire is really powerful, so the meat cooked up deliciously.

We start by putting a few pieces on to grill.

When the first piece is done, we eat it plain, with no sauce, the original way. Look at the brisket grilling so nicely. It made us drool.

It was a heatwave and we'd suffered all day, so of course we had an ice-cold draft beer too. I even filmed a video of the bubbles rising in the draft beer.
Table setting and side dishes at Chadol Grill Magok

Let's start with the menu: brisket yukhoe (raw beef) wraps, Korean beef ++no9 brisket, premium raw short ribs, premium seasoned short ribs, and more. There's so much on it! We wanted to try everything.

First comes soy-based seasoned onion, which cuts the richness of the meat. (This one is clean and fresh too.)

The seasoned lettuce also refreshed the palate, which I liked. There don't seem to be any side dishes here that are just for show. Everything was tasty.

The white kimchi was so refreshing that we kept picking at it, haha.

The mustard leaf kimchi was perfectly fermented too and got our appetite going.

The pickled garlic and pickled chili peppers are just right for a bite when the meat gets greasy.

They even served the pricey myeongi namul (pickled wild greens). A pretty fancy lineup of sides to cut the richness, right? Haha.

There's turmeric salt on the table too, so if you're more of a salt-dipping person than a sauce person, just dip the meat in the salt!
