The weather has been so nice lately that I headed to Gwangalli for the first time in a while, to see the sea and have a good brunch. Whenever I come to Gwangalli I never know what to eat, you know? This time I'd heard the vibe was great and the brunch menu was really excellent, so I visited Famous Benny. To cut to the chase: the food and the interior were totally my taste, a Gwangalli brunch café I loved 🧡

Where is Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, and where can you park?
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is at 64 Millakbondong-ro 11beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan, in an alley near Gwangalli Beach. It's open 08:00–18:00 with last order at 17:00. There's no parking lot of its own, so I'd recommend a nearby one like Millak Public Parking Lot or Taeyang Oneroom Parking Lot!
The location is perfect before or after a walk by the sea, or as part of a Gwangalli date. Walk along the alley and you'll spot Famous Benny by its big glass windows and stylish sign. The entrance has that warm, polished European brunch café feel, so it's a nice place for a photo before you go in. The café is split into a 1st and 2nd floor, and each has a slightly different mood, which made it fun to look around.

What are Famous Benny's 1st and 2nd floors like?
1st floor: open kitchen, counter and a bright interior
The 1st floor is a bright, lively space with a neat counter and an open kitchen. The smell of baking bread and coffee greets you as you walk in. With the cute little props and moody lighting, it's a great spot for a quick coffee or brunch.💛

2nd floor: sunny window seats and well-spaced tables
The 2nd floor is much bigger and more relaxed than the 1st. Sunlight pours in warmly by the window seats, so you can eat in a cozy atmosphere. Wood and white tones blend neatly, and there are plenty of photo spots that are perfect for a great shot. The tables are spaced generously too, so it was comfortable to chat.

Can you bring your dog to Famous Benny in Gwangalli?

✔️I ordered the French toast, house salad, pumpkin soup, scrambled eggs & bacon and an Americano!!

When the French toast, pumpkin soup, house salad, bacon & scrambled eggs and Americano all arrived, the look of it was stunning. The portions were generous overall and the colors were so pretty, it all looked really appetizing💛
Americano: strong with a slight acidity
The Americano comes in a pastel-colored cup and the cup is just so pretty..! The coffee was strong with a little acidity. Taking a sip between bites of the sweet and salty brunch dishes cleans up your palate nicely. The acidity and nutty richness are well balanced, so it paired wonderfully with the sweet French toast and the scrambled eggs.

House salad: a runny poached egg yolk over the greens
The house salad (₩12,000) was loaded with colorful greens like arugula, chicory and radicchio, plus cherry tomatoes and generous amounts of toasted granola and pecans. A poached egg sits right in the middle, and when you break the yolk it bursts and runs down between the greens. It looked amazing.
The crunch of the vegetables and the crispy bite of granola and nuts work together beautifully. The fresh dressing wrapped in the rich, soft poached yolk makes it a clean-tasting dish that's perfect for whetting your appetite before the meal.

Kabocha pumpkin soup with 2 slices of sourdough
The pumpkin soup is a deep yellow soup served with 2 slices of golden-toasted sourdough bread. I figured it would be amazing for dipping, so I was really looking forward to the taste.

The soup had a smooth texture with sweetness and a subtle mellowness, so good! Bread that's crispy outside and moist inside, dunked deep into the warm pumpkin soup, doubles the nutty flavor.

Scrambled eggs & bacon: piled onto sourdough
The scrambled eggs & bacon came with big pieces of golden, crispy bacon on top of the eggs, so appetizing. The scrambled eggs were softly sweet, tender and moist, so delicious. Eaten with the salty, crispy bacon they went really well together. Putting the scrambled eggs and bacon on the sourdough that comes with the pumpkin soup was truly delicious.

French toast: sweet and salty with berry compote and bacon
The French toast (₹17,000) could be called the star of the day, with an overwhelming look. Smoked bacon, banana, crispy crumble and a tangy berry compote sauce flow over thick toast in peak gorgeousness. (The maple syrup comes separately in a small cup.)
The toast, soaked through with egg custard, was crispy outside and fluffy and moist inside. Sweet banana, sweet-tart berry sauce and salty bacon came together for the textbook sweet-and-salty combination. Thanks to the crumble and nuts, the texture was fun to chew too, a perfect dish.

Who is Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch good for?
I loved the cozy feel of the space at Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, and the brunch dishes were so good that I left very satisfied ☺️ I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a pretty brunch café in Gwangalli, anyone planning a date, or anyone who wants a tasty meal with their beloved dog. Next time you visit Gwangalli, do stop by for brunch :)
