Vietnamese eatery in Wolseong-dong, Daegu: banh xeo wraps, Laichen
In short
Laichen Wolseong Branch is a Vietnamese pho and banh xeo restaurant in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, near Sangin Station. The banh xeo-obsessed writer ordered Laichen's Set A for two (pho, bun cha and banh xeo) in the mild flavor, wrapped the crispy banh xeo in rice paper, and enjoyed bun cha pork that tastes like Korean briquette-grilled bulgogi alongside a rich pho broth. Verdict: Laichen Wolseong Branch serves the most satisfying banh xeo of any branch the writer has tried.

Laichen Wolseong Branch in Daegu: why I went for the banh xeo
Laichen Wolseong Branch (라이첸 월성점) is a Vietnamese pho and banh xeo (crispy Vietnamese savory crepe) restaurant in Wolseong-dong, Daegu. I'm totally hooked on banh xeo lately, so I headed to Laichen again today.
Some people love Chinese food, some love Japanese, some love Korean, some love Western. What's your favorite?!!! I'm a Western and Chinese food lover haha. I don't like seafood much, so I rarely eat Japanese, and I'm a picky eater, so I don't end up eating much Korean food either. That leaves Western and Chinese, and since I love rich, greasy, meaty food, I eat those two all the time haha.
But recently I got hooked on a new food. Guess what?!!! It's banh xeo!!! Back when I worked part-time at a pho restaurant, I never craved Vietnamese food at all, but for some reason I've fallen for banh xeo lately hahaha. Anyway, today I went to Laichen, a pho and banh xeo place in Wolseong-dong, Daegu.

The entrance is already saying hi, "I'm a Vietnamese pho restaurant!" haha

What I ordered at Laichen Wolseong Branch: Set A for two
At Laichen Wolseong Branch I ordered Set A for two, which gets you pho, bun cha (grilled pork with rice noodles) and banh xeo all at once. I can't handle spice, so I picked the regular flavor instead of the spicy version.
This is the menu, and there are so many items, wow. I ordered Set A for two! And since I'm a spice wimp, no spicy version for me!!! Getting pho, bun cha and banh xeo all at once makes me so happy T_T

The food is seriously generous!!!! The banh xeo had just come out, so it looked warm and crispy T_T And the pho had so much meat!! I wanted to fish it out and eat it right away.
It looks hearty even just in the video, right?!!! It's all delicious food that's about to go into my belly haha. There's a mukbang (eating video) further down if you scroll, so everyone, please read the post properly 🤣

Can I eat all of this?! Yes, of course haha. I came fully intending to eat properly. My beloved banh xeo!!!!!

How is the bun cha? Charcoal-grill-style pork and crispy-outside fried rolls
At Laichen Wolseong Branch you can choose to pour the bun cha sauce over or dip. The fried rolls were crispy outside and tender inside, packed with filling, and the pork tasted like Bukseongno charcoal-grilled bulgogi.
I'll show the banh xeo later haha, bun cha first. You choose whether to pour the sauce over or dip, and of course I went with pouring!!!! So I dipped the fried rolls and the pork into the sauce one after another!!! Wow, the fried rolls were textbook crispy outside, tender inside, and totally packed with filling!!!! The pork tasted like charcoal-grilled bulgogi, with that Bukseongno (a Daegu grilled-meat street) feel. Wow. It seemed like it would be great with rice too. It was really good even without dipping in the sauce T_T

Laichen Wolseong Branch pho: how are the broth and the meat?
The pho at Laichen Wolseong Branch had a rich broth, springy noodles and plenty of meat. Even the writer, who regularly seeks out pho, gave it the nod.
And the pho, wow. The broth is rich, the noodles are springy, there's so much meat T_T I always loved pho!!! So I go eat it whenever I think of it, and Laichen's pho is seriously, ridiculously delicious, I approve T_T I was tearing up!!!!
Laichen banh xeo: how to wrap it in rice paper
The banh xeo at Laichen Wolseong Branch tasted best wrapped in rice paper, and the shrimp and bean sprouts inside were great too. Crispy outside and moist inside, it tasted nothing like a Korean jeon (savory pancake).
And now, the grand banh xeo!!!! I'll show the mukbang too haha

Wrapped in the rice paper it's seriously delicious T_T And the shrimp and bean sprouts inside the banh xeo are so good too T_T It looks like a regular Korean jeon from the outside, but it's totally not!!!!! It's a whole other level of flavor!!!!! Light but savory, crispy outside, moist inside! The more I eat, the more I keep thinking about it!!!!! This is why I keep coming back, ugh T_T
My hands and mouth were busy eating, but I filmed another mukbang haha. I honestly can't remember how many wraps I made haha. But I got way too greedy, so every time I made a wrap it kept trying to burst, which was so hard haha. My mouth was about to burst too haha
When you eat banh xeo, wrap just a little bit inside at a time!
Compared with other branches? Overall verdict on Laichen Wolseong Branch banh xeo
I've tried banh xeo at other branches too, but honestly the banh xeo at Laichen Wolseong Branch is the real deal T_T Everyone, come to Laichen in Wolseong-dong, Daegu, for delicious pho and banh xeo!!!
