Friday-night Guro bar for crispy dried pollack: Monthly Beer
In short
Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch is a pub serving food and drinks in Guro, Seoul, at the end of Kkalkkal-geori from Gudi Station Exit 2. After dinner, the writer and a friend stopped at Monthly Beer for a second round of July's beer of the month, Corona (₩3,900), crispy dried pollack (meoktae) with extra seaweed, and corn chips. They talked without much noise in the wood-toned, softly lit room. Monthly Beer in Gudi is a good second-round bar for a light drink when you're already full.

Where is Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch?
Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch (월간맥주 구로디지털단지역점) is at the very end of Kkalkkal-geori, the alley you walk into after leaving Gudi Station Exit 2. I'd had dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and neither of us wanted to say goodbye yet, so we wondered where to go and ended up at this Gudi bar with a nice vibe. It's easy to find, which I loved!

Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch · 7 Dijiteol-ro 32na-gil, Unit 101, Guro-gu, Seoul · Daily 14:00 - 02:00 · Groups, takeout, Wi-Fi available

At the entrance there's a big menu board where you can see all the dishes at a glance. First-timers can check the menu ahead and pick something to their taste, which was nice!

What is the beer of the month, and how much does it cost?
Every month Monthly Beer offers a different imported beer from as low as ₩3,900. In July it's Corona for ₩3,900!!!!!!!! With prices so high these days even a single drink feels like a burden, so being able to enjoy a different imported beer every month at a friendly price made me really happy.
I didn't take a photo of the menu, but most dishes are ₩10,000 to the low ₩20,000s, so it's an easy Gudi spot to drop into without worrying.

They also run a generous review event, so be sure to grab it!

The complimentary snack is sweet-salty chicken drumsticks and kkwabaegi (twisted doughnuts). Totally perfect beer food.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Monthly Beer in Gudi?
Inside, wood-toned decor and soft lighting make for a relaxed mood! The tables are spaced well enough that we could talk without worrying about the next table, and it felt lively rather than rowdy, which I liked even more.

With tables for 2, tables for 4 and more, it's good for a casual drink with friends, and it suits dates, company dinners and second-round gatherings too. Lots of office workers had come after work, and I liked that it still wasn't noisy!

With "beer" in the name, the draft beer machine is kept neat and clean, too. It's hygienic, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind.

How was the crispy dried pollack as a second-round snack?
We had already eaten dinner, so we chose the crispy dried pollack (meoktae), an easy snack to enjoy at Monthly Beer.

Even though we were really full, we kept reaching for the crunchy meoktae! I like plain dried seafood, and the clean, nutty flavor of the fish really came through, which satisfied me even more. The crisp texture made it easy to keep eating, and since it's a protein-rich snack I liked it even more.

Extra seaweed? Can't resist that. ^_^ Perfect for dieters, this Gudi favorite, Monthly Beer.

Adding corn chips as a side
Just the meoktae felt like not enough, so we added the corn chips as a side.

I was surprised that the corn chips, even as a side dish, came in a generous portion! They're easy to grab by the handful, and being sweet and salty they go well with the meoktae.

Can you drink non-alcoholic Terra Zero at Monthly Beer?
This Guro Digital Complex bar has Terra Zero!!!! It was only released recently so not many places sell it yet, and I was glad to find it at Monthly Beer. It seems like a good choice for people who want the feel of a drinking session but prefer non-alcoholic.

TMI: my friend paid ₩3,000 for a claw machine, so I won a super cute Pochacco. Skills on full display.

Are the restrooms at Monthly Beer in Gudi inside the bar?
The restrooms at Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch are inside the bar, separate for women and men. Restrooms are a surprisingly important point at a bar, and many places on Kkalkkal-geori use outside toilets, so this was really convenient.

Drink after drink as we talked, I got more drunk on the atmosphere than the alcohol! With the soft lighting and relaxed mood we lost track of time, and it was a properly healing Friday night after so long.

A Guro Digital Complex bar with a great atmosphere, Monthly Beer.

Looking at the tables around us, lots of people were having highballs! The prices are friendly too, so I'm going to try one next time.

Can you take leftover snacks home from Monthly Beer?
Monthly Beer lets you take leftovers home, and pizza and chicken can be packed to go too. We had some snacks left, so I asked for takeout, and the staff wrapped them up carefully so they were easy to carry. I was touched.. Since pizza and chicken can be taken out too, they'd be good for a simple late-night snack or drinking at home!

I was really happy with the July event, and I'm already curious what beer and event August has in store. I'll have to come back for the new promotion!
