Window-bar café in Mangwon, Seoul: leftover Americano to go, PICT
In short
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch (픽트로스터리 망원점) is a half-basement roastery café in an alley near Mangwon Market in Mapo, Seoul. After lunch in Mangwon, the writer had pistachio tiramisu and an iced Americano made with nutty beans at a window bar seat, and liked the beans so much that the rest of the coffee went into a takeaway cup. PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a good stop for a quiet coffee and dessert after a meal in Mangwon.

This is the story of PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch (픽트로스터리 망원점), a café I found while looking for a dessert spot after lunch in Mangwon, where the coffee beans were exactly my taste 🤎
Where is PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch, and what are its hours?
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is on the 1st floor of 45 Woldeukeop-ro 23-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is open Wed–Fri 11:00–19:00 and Sat–Sun 11:00–21:00, and closed every Monday and Tuesday.

PICT Roastery has two branches: Magongnaru... the Magongnaru branch and this one, the Mangwon branch! The Mangwon branch is the more recent one.

How to find PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch's half-basement entrance
Just before the entrance to Mangwon Market, go past School Food and head straight down the alley immediately on your right. Once you're in, it blends right in with the residential houses (?), and there's no signboard out on the street, so I wondered, is this really the place? Then I spotted the white sign on the wall and figured it out. Haha.

The look of the building... so much vibe... 🩷 But I found the shop and then couldn't find the entrance, hahaha. Looking at the shop from the front, the entrance is off to the right. Go in from the side you reach from the alley, and since it's a half-basement, you walk down half a flight!

Coming in by the stairs, there was a poster for the seasonal menu, fig toast, on the stairwell wall, and the poster is so aesthetic...

Inside PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch: atmosphere and seating
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a cozy, small café. This is the view as soon as you step in! I liked that it isn't huge... maybe because I've only been seeking out small places lately, haha. Big cafés feel open, but these days I hate how noisy they get when it's crowded...

To the left of the entrance there's a spot like this. It's not seating, more a place to set your bags down, I think? I like this corner... (a shame)

And the counter! Since the shop is small, the roasting area isn't big either, but it's wide open so it doesn't feel stuffy. And above all, it's spotless.

Six window bar seats with a street view
There are 6 seats in total set up as a bar facing the window! That's quite a few bar seats for the size of the space. Of course I grabbed one of those, haha.

It's an alley in Mangwon, so there's no special view outside, but sitting here in the middle of a sunny day was happiness in itself... 🤎 How could anything be bad... haha.

Eight tables for two in a white-and-wood interior
There are also 8 table seats, all for two, so unless it's a busy hour you can probably sit right away. Above all, the white walls with wooden tables make the inside look really clean. 👍 Oh, and the restroom was pretty too, but I didn't take a photo... haha.
What I ordered at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch
I ordered the pistachio tiramisu and an iced Americano. The menu is posted at the counter, and it's not as extensive as I expected!

But a place that only does its core menu feels like it must taste better (just my own theory). I came determined to have dessert, so I chose the pistachio tiramisu and an iced Americano!

The fig French toast I'd seen on the way in tempted me again, but since I'd just eaten a meal... I gave up... It's a seasonal menu item, so I agonized over it!

When I ordered the iced Americano, I could choose the beans, and as always I went with the nutty one!

After you order, they bring it to your seat like this.

How was the pistachio tiramisu?
The pistachio tiramisu at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch paired the nuttiness of pistachio with the sweetness of tiramisu really well. Pistachio tiramisu?! I love tiramisu, but I'd never seen a pistachio one, so I was super, super curious.

I took a bite right awaaay, and wow, the nuttiness of the pistachio 💚 and the sweetness of the tiramisu 🤎 go so well together 🥹

The tiramisu sponge was really moist, and the soft pistachio cream in the middle and on top went together like a perfect match, so it vanished in a flash... hahaha.

Nutty iced Americano, with the leftover coffee taken to go
The nutty-bean iced Americano at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch was so much to my taste that I wanted to buy the beans. Above all, this coffee... the flavor of the beans hit my taste so precisely that I even felt like buying some. So even though there was hardly any coffee left when I was leaving, I asked them to put it in a takeaway cup, carried it out and finished every last drop. Hahaha.
A quiet Mangwon café to stop by after a meal
Mangwon has Mangwon Market and lots of great restaurants, so it's bustling and full of good food, but when you've had your main meal and want to finish in a relaxed, quiet space with good coffee and dessert, PICT Roastery would be perfect, I thought. 😉 Above all, next time I'm in Mangwon I'll probably go back for coffee~~ (Visited Sat, 10.10.26)
