After-work bar in Bangi-dong for Hanmaek draft: Wareureu Mansion

After work, my friend and I headed to Wareureu Mansion near Jamsil Station for dinner and a beer. Jamsil is so easy to get to that it's the perfect spot to meet up after work. The name Wareureu Mansion sounded oddly familiar, so here's my review.

Where is Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch, and is there a wait?

Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch sits in the Bangi-dong restaurant alley, an 8-minute walk from Jamsil Station. I arrived at 6:30pm on a weekday and got seated immediately with no wait.

Inside the Crayon Shin-chan-themed bar

The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the Shin-chan dolls. Shin-chan figures and plushies everywhere, and even the Crayon Shin-chan cartoon playing on the wall~ The name Wareureu Mansion felt oddly familiar, and it turns out it's named after the actual crumbling apartment building from the show. It brought back memories of the episode where Shin-chan's family moves into that falling-apart house, haha.

Seating and what is on the menu

The place is big, so there were plenty of seats — good for pairs, groups of 3-4, and even larger parties. Ordering was done right at the table via tablet.

The menu had a surprisingly wide range of categories — hot pots, cooked dishes, fried items, pasta and pizza, even desserts. There was even yogurt ice cream. Amazing, haha. With quirky dishes like cream jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and croissant pizza, it felt like a totally different level from your typical bar menu.

100 won draft beer before 7pm and Hanmaek draft prices

If you get seated before 7pm, you can order draft beer for just ₩100~ It's limited to one glass per person, which is a bit of a bummer, but in this era of high prices, ₩100 happiness! 🍺🍻🍺 We were craving beer and lucky enough to get in before 7pm, so we ordered the ₩100 draft.

Hanmaek draft beer

₩100 draft beer. This is what beer is all about! I was exhausted from the heat, so it was extra refreshing. It was my first time trying Hanmaek draft, and it was better than I expected. After finishing the first glass, we ordered another — ₩1,900 for a 300cc glass, so it was easy to keep going without worrying about cost.

What does the spicy tomato haejang pesce taste like?

With scallop shells arranged around the dish like a bowl, it looked delicious right off the bat.

Thin spaghetti noodles sit in a spicy tomato-based broth — the broth is salty and spicy, exactly the kind of thing that would work as haejang (hangover cure), true to its name.

We ordered it instead of dinner, and since it's spaghetti, it filled us up while also working perfectly as a drinking snack — two birds, one stone.

It came plated so you could enjoy raw beef tartare and seared beef chadol together on one plate, along with sesame oil sauce, wasabi, and peanut sauce — a lot of fun mixing and matching.

Dipped in the sesame oil sauce, wrapped in pickled radish — I tried it every which way.

Wrapping the seared beef and tartare together in pickled radish and eating it in one bite gave a fresh, nutty flavor. Being a meat-based dish, it definitely filled us up as we kept eating. A great menu item for both drinking and dining.

This was a distinctive bar with a Shin-chan theme. With a wide variety of dishes and a spacious layout, Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch works well as a second-round spot, for company dinners, or group gatherings. If you're in Jamsil and want to catch up with someone or grab an affordable beer, I'd recommend giving it a visit.
