Why Ragu Hapjeong for a birthday dinner in Hapjeong
My birthday was not long ago! To celebrate, I went to Ragu Hapjeong in Hapjeong for steak and pasta in a nice atmosphere.

Ragu Hapjeong is close to Hapjeong Station, and you can take a walk along the Han River after eating, so it's a perfect date course 🥹

What is the inside of Ragu Hapjeong like?
Ragu Hapjeong looked neat and atmospheric right from the outside. The combination of green plants and the sign felt so charming that it catches your eye even as you walk past. Before I even went in, I thought, "This place looks good" ✨

Inside, Ragu Hapjeong felt spacious and clean overall. The lighting was soft, not too dark, so it was good for taking food photos, and the tables were spaced comfortably, which makes it easy for a date or a meal with friends.

What we ordered at Ragu Hapjeong, plus the free wine
We ordered the Wolf Steak and the grandma ragu pasta at Ragu Hapjeong. When you order a steak, you also get a free glass of wine 🍷
I also heard that the striploin steak is sold in limited quantities because of contracted supply. They said it sells out quickly, so if you want to try it, I'd recommend coming a bit early!

The mood was so good that I ended up ordering one more glass of wine, haha. Having it with the steak made the atmosphere even better 🍷 We clinked glasses and chatted, and time just flew by.

How does Ragu Hapjeong's grandma ragu pasta taste?
First, the grandma ragu pasta! Ragu Hapjeong says the sauce is simmered for two days using an Italian grandmother's recipe, and the flavor really was deep. The ragu soaked richly into the noodles, and every time I twirled a forkful, the meaty flavor burst out. The tomato acidity isn't overpowering and the savory meat flavor is strong, so I loved it.

The noodles weren't mushy and were cooked just right, so the texture was great too. When you twirl them on a fork and take a bite, the thick ragu flavor fills your mouth. It's the kind of taste that keeps your hand going back, so I practically inhaled it 🥹 The sauce is so good that I think I could finish a whole bowl of rice with just this ragu on top 😭

How was the 400g Wolf Steak cooked medium?
And now the main dish, the Wolf Steak! At 400g, it was overwhelming just to look at. A thick steak arrives, and the moment it hit the table, the whole mood perked up.

I was surprised at how softly the Wolf Steak cut with a knife. And that cross-section, wowwwwww!!!!!!!! I had it cooked medium and it was just right. The inside was moist and pink, and the outside was well seared, so it looked incredibly appetizing.

Each bite was moist and juicy with nothing tough about it. The meat itself is well seasoned, so it was delicious on its own, and dipping it in the whole grain mustard served alongside adds a sharp kick that pairs really well.

Mashed potatoes served with the Wolf Steak
The mashed potatoes were a quiet highlight too. They were super smooth and nutty, and eating them with the steak sauce made me so happy. I kept repeating the cycle of one piece of meat, one bite of mashed potatoes, haha.

Is Ragu Hapjeong worth it for a birthday date and Han River walk?
See how clean I wiped the plates..? Overall I was happy with the atmosphere, the food and the service at Ragu Hapjeong. If you're looking for a date spot, or a good pasta and steak place in Hapjeong, I recommend Ragu Hapjeong. Eat well, then stroll to the Han River, and you've got a perfect date course ✨
