Sinchon burger joint: Shrimp Burger & wings with gloves, Bored &

I finally got back to Bored & Hungry Mapo, one of my favorite Sinchon-area spots. Every time I visit, that shrimp patty look just grabs my eyes right away. And then wings on top of that!!! Honestly, this combo can't fail, haha. I really want this place to stay around forever!!!

Where is Bored & Hungry Mapo, and what's the vibe?

Bored & Hungry Mapo is at 36 Gwangseong-ro 6-gil, 1st floor, Mapo-gu, Seoul, within walking distance of Daeheung Station. It's close to Sinchon too, so getting here for a meal was easy.

As you head into the alley, you can spot a hip-looking sign from far away, and it totally gives off American-style burger joint vibes! The exterior already has so much atmosphere that I was excited before even going in. The wall graphics and colorful interior really caught my eye, and it's a great place for taking photos.

Roomy seating for solo meals and dates

The inside of Bored & Hungry Mapo is much bigger than I expected! The tables are spaced out nicely, so it never felt cramped. Lots of couples came on dates, and plenty of tables were friends hanging out. I also saw people eating solo, so it feels easy to visit without any pressure!

Are there disposable gloves on every table?

Yes, Bored & Hungry Mapo has disposable gloves ready on every table. At burger places like this, sauce gets all over your hands, right? So I thought this was really thoughtful. A burger tastes best held in your hands, and with gloves it's so much easier to eat, haha.

The self-serve bar had basics like ketchup, wet wipes, forks and knives, and you just take what you need!

How do you order?

Bored & Hungry Mapo uses QR code ordering, so it was easy to sit down and browse the menu slowly. It comes with photos, so you can see what each dish is at a glance. The menu names are quirky too, so browsing was fun, haha.

What's the Bored & Hungry Shrimp Burger like?

The Shrimp Burger at Bored & Hungry Mapo is all about its thick shrimp patty. Our order has finally arrived!!! Seriously, the look of it when it hit the table was insane. It had a proper American-style feel at first glance. The Shrimp Burger in the middle especially stole all the attention. Can you see how thick that shrimp patty is?? It's crazy plump.

The moment you take a bite, the shrimp texture really comes through, and it's springy and bouncy. The sauce combo was great too. It isn't greasy and goes perfectly with the shrimp patty! And the bun matters a lot, right? When a bun is too soggy it falls apart as you eat, but the Bored & Hungry bun kept its texture to the end, which made it easy to eat.

The balance of patty, vegetables and sauce was good, and the whole thing felt really well put together!

What style is the O.G Chimpanzee Burger?

The O.G Chimpanzee Burger is a thick beef patty burger with cheese, and people who love meat patties will really like it. The patty is super thick yet packed with juice, so you'll be amazed from the first bite.

You can really taste that handmade burger meat flavor, and with the cheese added the combo was great. The melting cheese looked amazing, and the saltiness went so well with the patty. Eating it made me realize all over again why everyone raves about handmade burgers, haha.

Are the wings and fries worth ordering?

The wings at Bored & Hungry Mapo are a side I'd really like you to eat with a burger. The seasoning soaks in well, and it isn't just harshly strong but the kind you keep reaching for! Eating a burger, then a wing, then a sip of cola was an insane combo, lol.

The wings are crispy outside and moist inside, so for a side dish they had serious presence. The fries weren't careless either; they were fried nice and crispy and were perfect with the burgers. It's not just the burgers, every item gave me the feeling of good quality.

Who is Bored & Hungry Mapo for?

If you're looking for a good Sinchon-area or Mapo burger restaurant, I really recommend Bored & Hungry Mapo. Shrimp burger fans especially should definitely try it. In person the look is far more overwhelming than in photos, and eating it is even more satisfying!

I left truly satisfied, haha. If you like burgers, you've got to try Bored & Hungry Mapo for real! Totally recommended~~!!
