Sinnonhyeon study café for cover letter writing: Selecto Coffee

In short

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch 24 Auto Brew Cafe is a 24-hour café two minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. Sitting down to write a cover letter, the writer ordered an iced americano made with the geisha blend for 3,800 won and a ricotta cheese sandwich for 7,500 won, then worked at a solo desk with its own power outlet. Between the in-store print zone, the single-seat desks and unmanned overnight hours, Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon is built for laptop work and long study sessions.

An unemployed job-seeker's endless quest: find a café to write a self-introduction letter in. I hadn't seen a friend who works in Sinnonhyeon in a while, so I headed to Gangnam — but before we could hang out, I had to knock out my cover letter first, haha^^; So I went looking for a café good for laptop work and studying.

Seating at Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon: sofas to solo laptop desks

The first thing I noticed walking into Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon was how genuinely huge the place is! Even with quite a few customers around, there were so many seats that my friend and I found a spot easily.

Wide sofa seating for two people

Since there were two of us, we staked out a wide sofa seat before going to order.

Café seating layout with sofa seats leading to bar tables

Looking around the café, there was a real variety of seating — sofa seats, bar tables, and dedicated solo seats.

Solo laptop-friendly seating for studying and working

There was even a whole section of solo seats made for laptop use, which looked perfect for anyone here to study or work. Each seat had its own outlet too, so there was no need to go hunting for a plug. One thing worth knowing: the solo seats have a 2-hour time limit once the café fills up.

Coffee menu board with bean selection options at Selecto

What surprised me about Selecto Coffee was the sheer range of bean options. Mocha blend, Blue Mountain blend, Hwasa (Ethiopia blend), geisha blend, even decaf — you could pick beans to suit your taste.

Description of bean types including the geisha blend

I don't know much about coffee beans, but my friend, who does, spotted geisha beans on the menu and was shocked haha. Apparently geisha beans are famous and delicious, which immediately made me curious too. The geisha blend was described as coffee 'blessed by the gods,' so with high expectations I ordered the iced geisha blend americano. My friend got a café latte.

Beyond drinks, there was also quite a variety of meal-replacement menu items.

Meal menu board listing salads and sandwiches

The salads came in grilled bulgogi, chicken, ricotta cheese, and smoked duck versions, each ₩10,000. Sandwiches ranged from sweet pumpkin egg to chicken, ricotta cheese, and smoked salmon. We went with the ricotta cheese sandwich.

How does the geisha blend taste? Floral aroma and bright acidity

Geisha iced americano and ricotta cheese sandwich

Finally our drinks and sandwich arrived. Trying the geisha blend for the first time, I picked up acidity along with a fragrant floral note. I don't know much about coffee, ^^; but it smelled distinctly different from the americanos I usually drink.

It was a bit late in the day, so I drank it with the espresso shot mixed straight in, but tasting it in its original, unmixed form would probably let the geisha blend's signature aroma really shine through. Still, cold and refreshing on a hot summer day, it hit the spot!

The ricotta cheese sandwich was packed full of ricotta cheese too. Sweet and soft, it went great alongside coffee.

So good ~

You can print at this Sinnonhyeon café too?

With that, I finally opened my laptop to seriously start on my cover letter, and the more I looked around, the more I realized this place is genuinely built for studying and working.

Print area set up inside the café

The most shocking discovery: you can print right there in the café! And the price matches unmanned print shops, so if you're working on your laptop and suddenly need to print something out, there's no need to go find another place. Printing is actually available here...!

Unmanned printing instructions and price list

Since the pricing matches unmanned print cafés, there was no need to step outside even if something needed printing mid-work. Drinking coffee, working on my laptop, and printing on the spot — all in one place...

Honestly, is this a café or a study room ~

Is Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon open overnight? Unmanned 24-hour service

Signage explaining 24-hour and unmanned operation

On top of everything, Selecto Coffee runs 24 hours a day. When no staff are on duty, the café switches to unmanned operation, so it's usable late at night or in the early hours too. That should make it especially useful for anyone in Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon who needs to work late on a laptop, or who's hunting for a place to study during exam season.

Display case with a wide variety of bakery items

Beyond the salads and sandwiches, the wide range of bakery items was another plus, letting you snack in between while staying a long time.

Final verdict on Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon

If you're looking for a café near Sinnonhyeon Station that's good for studying, a big café comfortable for laptop use, a place where you can print on-site, or a 24-hour café you can visit late at night, I highly, highly recommend Selecto Coffee!

I hope the cover letter I wrote here works out, so I can end up working in Sinnonhyeon myself and stopping by Selecto Coffee like it's my regular haunt... Since they have salads too, next time I'll even eat a proper meal here while I work.
