It's been getting pretty chilly with the evening wind lately! As soon as the weather cooled down, I went for a warm bowl of oden broth and a light drink at 'Sindang Oden Club' near my house! I'd walked past it so many times without going in, but with the autumn breeze finally blowing, I finally made it — and even though I went in with high expectations, it exceeded them, so I wanted to write a detailed review!
Where is Sindang Oden Club and when is it open?
Sindang Oden Club is at 17 Toegye-ro 86-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Sindang Station. It's open daily from 18:00 to 02:00, closed Mondays.

It's tucked into an alley near Sindang Station, but the warm wooden interior really stands out. Even from a distance you can feel that cozy, quietly nostalgic Japanese vibe, which makes it easy to spot.
What's the vibe at Sindang Oden Club — good for a date?

Sindang Oden Club is centered around a big oden bar with cozy counter seats, which made it easy for my husband and me to chat quietly together, and there are also window seats — it's perfect for a date spot!

The soft lighting gave off exactly that trendy 'Hipdang-dong' feel, so I felt good the moment I walked in 😍

As a basic side dish, they first bring out a cabbage salad when you sit down — it's refreshing for cleansing your palate! The dressing goes so well with the crunchy cabbage that I kept picking at it before the main dishes arrived.
What we ordered and how much it cost
The two of us ordered flounder chohoe, 2 pieces of kkobuli oden, 2 pieces of mul-tteok, and 2 bottles of soju at Sindang Oden Club.
- Flounder chohoe: ₩25,000
- Kkobuli oden (2 pieces): ₩4,000 (₩2,000 each)
- Mul-tteok (2 pieces): ₩4,000 (₩2,000 each)
- Soju (2 bottles): ₩10,000 (₩5,000 each)

How do you eat the homemade fish cakes and mul-tteok?
At Sindang Oden Club, you pick out whichever fish cakes you like from the oden bar and they're served with broth in a mug placed at your table. Each seat has its own cute mug, and eating out of a mug means the broth doesn't cool down as fast and it's easy to hold and sip — this is exactly the style people looking for a good oden bar in Sindang would love!

From fried tofu skin to mul-tteok, kkobuli oden, and stick oden, the variety is really impressive. It's not the cheap, floury kind — these are handmade fish cakes with springy fish meat, so the texture was definitely on point.

The mul-tteok was soaked well in the broth and so chewy! I feel like I'll think of this place whenever I want a proper oden fix in Sindang, haha. One sip of the broth and my whole body warmed up! You can keep scooping up the broth, so it's the perfect pairing for soju. We cleanly polished off two bottles of soju 🍶
Tip! Enjoy two different flavors with the spicy sauce on the table
Start with the basic broth, then try mixing in the spicy sauce on the table. It turns spicier and sharper, giving off a completely different charm. Being able to enjoy two flavors meant it never got boring — I just kept eating.
Is the flounder chohoe at Sindang Oden Club a must-try?

The flounder chohoe (₩25,000) is the signature dish at Sindang Oden Club, so definitely order it if you visit! It looks so pretty and comes out neatly plated. It's the kind of dish you can't help but photograph.

With aged flounder sashimi, octopus, tomato, avocado, and vegetables, the ingredients were genuinely generous.

Maybe because it's aged sashimi, the flounder had a chewy texture, and eating it with the tangy pickled onions was so delicious!

The chewy octopus paired with avocado and tomato was such a clean, perfect combination, and it went really well with the oden broth! A sip of warm broth followed by a bite of refreshing chohoe worked so well together that I'd strongly recommend this place if you're looking for a Japanese menu near Sindang Station!!
Honest overall review and would I go back?
My rating is 5.0 out of 5.0. The food at Sindang Oden Club was clean and well-made and the vibe was exactly that Hipdang-dong feel, so I'm planning to go back with my husband soon for a second round! Between the neighborhood's distinctive charm, the cozy atmosphere, and that standout flounder chohoe, everything was perfect, and I'm 100% looking forward to going back!!😍
If you're in the Sindang-dong area looking for an atmospheric bar with character, a date spot, or a good second-round place, give 'Sindang Oden Club' a try 💕
