Every time I went to Yeonnam-dong, there was this black building along the main road that caught my eye. I kept walking past it thinking I had to go in!! So I finally visited Central Site Yeonnam, the café famous by word of mouth for its brewing coffee.
Central Site Yeonnam location and how to get there
Central Site Yeonnam is at 29-1 Yeonhui-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Come out of Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3, pass the Donggyo-dong intersection, and keep walking up toward Yeonhui-dong, and you'll see it right on the main road. It's about a 10-minute walk, a perfect distance for a stroll!
Is there parking at Central Site Yeonnam?
There's no parking at Central Site Yeonnam, so if you're coming by car, I'd recommend a nearby paid lot like Dongjin Parking Lot right next door or Urban Port Parking Lot near the intersection.

Central Site Yeonnam is a neatly finished black three-story building, so it definitely stands out even from far away. Yeonnam-dong has lots of cute, cozy cafés, but this one gives off a clear "they're serious about coffee" vibe~~ It's not a huge building, but they use all three floors, so there's quite a lot of seating.
Inside Central Site Yeonnam, floor by floor
The 1st floor of Central Site Yeonnam has the brewing bar and roasting space, plus a corner where you can smell the beans yourself. The moment you open the door the aroma of beans washes over you, and honestly I felt like I'd already had half the experience right there?! You can buy beans too, and I saw quite a few people taking some home.
The 2nd floor has plenty of hall tables, and the window seats overlooking Yeonhui-ro are the real sweet spot. It's great for working alone or reading, and I'd recommend it for a first date too!! The 3rd floor feels like a rooftop, and with the good light, sitting there in this autumn weather is pure healing!

Brewing coffee is definitely the main thing at Central Site Yeonnam. The lineup has more than 10 beans, including Geisha, Ethiopia, Colombia and Guatemala, and it seems to change a little each season. Prices range from ₩8,000 to ₩24,000 depending on the beans.
There are basics like Americano, latte, flat white and cold brew, and quite a few options for people who don't drink coffee, like matcha latte, chocolate latte, lemonade and iced tea.

Two brewing coffees chosen by smelling the beans
At the 1st floor of Central Site Yeonnam we smelled the beans, agonized for a while, and ordered one bright bean and one nutty bean!! When you order brewing coffee, you can smell freshly ground beans yourself at the 1st-floor bar seats. The barista explained each bean's character one by one, so even a coffee newbie like me had fun choosing?!
They bring the coffee to your seat, along with a tasting note card for the bean you chose.
Colombia Anaya Omblígon Washed: for acidity beginners
The Colombia Anaya Omblígon Washed gave off a fresh fruity aroma from the first sniff! The acidity is more juicy and refreshing than sour, and the finish is clean, so it's perfect for acidity beginners.
Guatemala Entre Volcanes: if you prefer nutty flavors
I heard the Guatemala Entre Volcanes is grown in a volcanic region, and it's nutty with a subtle sweetness and a moderate body. If acidic coffee is still hard for you, I'd recommend this one!

As for the tiramisu, there's nothing to say except it's the best tiramisu of my life, it's crazy.
My thoughts after visiting Central Site Yeonnam
Honestly, I'm not someone who can pick out subtle coffee flavors, but smelling the beans, hearing the explanation and even watching the brewing made me feel like my cup of coffee was properly served. Each floor has a different mood, brewing show on the 1st, window vibes on the 2nd, rooftop healing on the 3rd, so it'd be fun to try a different seat every visit.
If you want to really taste coffee in Yeonnam-dong, or you're looking for a Hongdae café with a nice atmosphere, I recommend Central Site Yeonnam!
