Sinnonhyeon café: mocha vs geisha americano and lunch crowds, Selecto

Today I'm introducing Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch near Sinnonhyeon Station! It's only 200m from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 1, so it's easy to find.

The café is staffed on weekdays 08:00–22:00 and weekends 10:00–21:00, and runs unmanned the rest of the time. Takeout and delivery are available too.

Besides drinks, there's a wide range of bakery items and desserts, like bagels, muffins, croffles, hot dogs and sandwiches.

What's the atmosphere and seating like at Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon?

The café is really spacious and stands out even from far away. Inside there are several kinds of seats, so it looks comfortable to visit 📗

• Space for working on your own
• Group seating (looks like it fits about 6–8 people)
• Window seats where you can sit comfortably alone

It gets crowded at lunchtime

I visited around 11am, and there were people chatting and people working on computers! Once it got close to lunchtime, lots of people poured in and the café filled up. If you don't like bustling places, I'd recommend avoiding lunchtime.

There's a printer in the café

Oh, and one interesting thing: there's a printer inside the café! If you urgently need a document or materials, using the café printer seems fine. (I actually saw someone using it.)

Sandwich options at Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon

Selecto Coffee has a wide range of drinks, and the bakery and dessert selection is huge too. There are lots of sandwiches, so it seems good as a breakfast substitute :) Options include ricotta cheese, sweet pumpkin, egg mayo, sweet pumpkin egg, smoked salmon and chicken breast.

How to order at Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon

You order at a kiosk! I ordered a geisha americano (₩3,800), a mocha americano (₩3,800) and a ricotta cheese sandwich (₩7,500). When your drink is ready, a staff member calls out that it's done. (It's not a buzzer system.)

For anyone wondering why the drink is called geisha (I was so curious and confused that I looked it up): it's a coffee that originates from the Gesha region of Ethiopia!

Mocha americano vs geisha americano: which tasted better?

Between the mocha americano and the geisha americano, I liked the mocha americano more! The geisha americano tasted too bitter to me. People who like acidity might enjoy it. I was surprised by how much americano you get; the cup is quite big and tall.

How was the ricotta cheese sandwich?

For bakery, I ordered the ricotta cheese sandwich (₩7,500), since I love ricotta! As you can see in the photos, it was a very thick sandwich :)

The downside is that the cheese isn't spread evenly through the sandwich but bunched up at the front, so it kept squeezing out every time I took a bite,,, (napkins a must). Still, I enjoyed it! The bread felt a bit like whole wheat, so it seemed healthy and tasty.

Things to know before visiting Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon

Overall, Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon was a decent café that's good for working. I forgot my charger and couldn't finish my work, which is a funny-sad story... 💻

When I visited, the windows on the window side were fully open, so I sometimes smelled cigarette smoke. If you're sensitive to smells, keep that in mind!
